At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES
Ireland Family Wedding – Mary would like to thank you all so much for all your help and fellowship, especially Arthur and the Choir, the Bellringers, the verger and David Graves for sorting out the building problems!
A special thanks to Geoff Grant for organising the tidy up of St. Andrews Church’s grounds.
New Evening Service – Our first service went well and we are wondering whether to call these services Monday Church – but if you’ve got a better name, please tell Mary! It’s a relaxed service with songs, bible readings, discussion over a cup of coffee/tea, prayer and meditation. It starts at 8 p.m. but don’t worry if you’re late or need to leave early! The next service is on Monday, 12th July, in the Methodist Church Hall.
Food for the Homeless - for some years now we have had a basket in St Andrew's Burton Overy to gather food for the homeless, which is taken to the Homeless Centre in Conduit Street, Leicester. Whenever we deliver, they are very grateful and assure us that these donations of food are distributed to deserving cases. How about popping an extra tin of food into your shopping trolley next time you are in a supermarket – no biscuits please, as the mice have a feast!
HMP Leicester: Knitting campaign! – Nearly everyday children arrive at HMP Leicester to visit relatives. The experience can be daunting. To make the visit easier the Chaplaincy has teamed up with the Mothers Union to make kitted teddies for the children to play with whilst in the Prison Visits Hall and to take home with them, to help them to have positive memories of their day. The teddies take less than an evening to knit, but they mean so much to the children. Completed teddies are being collected at the Mothers Union office in Church House, opening hours are: Tues, Wed & Fri 9.30-12.30 am. Address: 5 St Martins East, Leicester LE1 5FX. For more information visit: http://diomail.dioceseofleicester.com and follow the links.
Church Camp (13th – 15th August) – We now need to know the names of the children who would like to come this year. Booking forms and information from Mary or Nicola Langton (259 2332). The camp will be held at Carlton Curlieu Manor thanks to the hospitality of Jonathan and Sue Brankin-Frisby. It’s a wonderful place and the children have a great time!
Knitting wool required – We would be grateful for donations of any wool suitable for French Knitting for use at camp - it doesn’t want to be too thick. Please give your wool to Carole Henson or Rebecca Broughton.
St Cuthbert’s Cradle Roll – we are delighted that Helen Dartnall has offered to take over this work from Sue Piggins and would like to thank both ladies for all they do and have done for St. Cuthbert’s Church.
St Cuthbert’s Church needs volunteers to act as sidespeople at the 10.30 a.m. services. We also need people to open up the church for Mission Partnership Evensong services and act as sidespeople, and to do tea and coffee after the service – about 27 people came to the last service and we must offer our visitors our usual warm hospitality. If you could help in any of these ways, please contact Chris Otway on 259 2013.
Quiz – Another fun way to raise funds for our church is the summer quiz. 84 clues to ponder over and all the answers are the names of “villages” in Leicestershire. Entries do not have to be in until July 31st. I will leave Toys needed – St Cuthbert’s & St Andrew’s churches are looking for toys (with a Biblical theme if possible) in nice condition (no rattles or other noises!) to use for children during the 10.30 a.m. Communion Services. Julie Kirk has joined Tessa & Carole in this ministry and we would appreciate any suitable donations. Thank you.
some sheets at the back of the church near the cards with an envelope for your £1 donation. If you could help further by selling a few to friends it would be much appreciated. Amy Cook (2592610)
BBQ’s in the vicar’s garden – Do come and join us for a bring and share BBQ lunch from 12.30 onwards on Sunday 25th July and Sunday 12th September. The garden at St. Cuthbert’s Vicarage is large with a lower lawn for the children to play on (inc. 2 football goal nets) and an upper lawn on which to cook, serve and eat the food. All the food and drink gets put on a large table for everyone to help themselves to while the men (usually) cook the meat on the BBQ for everyone (but hang on to your own food if you need to!). The fishpond has been turned into a sandpit for the safety and benefit of Mary’s grandson so this can be enjoyed by younger children.
Children during the 10.30 a.m. Communion Services are invited to move into the north aisle (whether at Glen or Burton) after the Gloria. They rejoin their parents in the pews at The Peace.
Lifts to Services – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.
Laughter is a gift: church signs: “Staying in bed shouting, Oh God! Does not constitute going to church” – at St. Cyril of Alexandria RC Church, Texas.
Please pray:-
· For anyone known to us who is ill or suffering
· For families and friends of loved ones who have past away
· For people beginning their married life together – may they be blessed.
· For those in and around the Gulf of Mexico recently hit by hurricanes, earthquakes and oil pollution.
· For those threatened with job cuts in the effort to reduce the national deficit.
· For the people who care for the countryside and make it so lovely at this time of year.
· For our armed forces and wise conduct of operations in Afghanistan.
