NOTICES

Ride & Stride – Mary was desperately disappointed not to be able to join you all either walking, cycling or enjoying the Bloor’s wonderful hospitality for which we are all grateful – but glad that you had a great time! The dates for Timeout were agreed some months ago around existing diary entries so it couldn’t be changed. But it was good to see five families enjoying themselves and praying together and more families are interested in coming in the future.

Items for the Parish Magazine – Please contact Dirne Spearing on 279 3311 or by email at insideoutgg@hotmail.co.uk

A Coffee Morning in aid of The Children’s Society will be held on Wednesday, 28th September, at 23 Beechfield Close from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Please support this excellent cause.

Team BOGG will be competing in the Grand Challenge at Rutland Water next Saturday thanks to the hard work and organisation of Dave Fletcher and many of their parents. We wish them well and hope it’s a good day for everyone.

An opportunity to meet some of the young families involved in our church life by visiting them in their homes. Funding visitors are NOT required to ask for money (this will already have been done as part of the St Cuthbert’s Church Funding Campaign) but just to collect any forms they may have filled in and have a nice chat. If you would be willing to visit one or two of these families, please contact Mary. The young families will feel welcomed and valued if they are visited.

Harvest Festival at Burton Overy on 2nd October – After the service at 10.30 a.m. there will be a Harvest Lunch in the Village Hall. Any offers of puddings will be gratefully accepted. For information and tickets, please contact Rebecca Broughton on 259 0055.

Harvest Festival at St Cuthbert’s on 9th October – The Primary School Choir will sing at the 10.30 a.m. service which will be followed by a Bring and Share lunch in church. There will be a Harvest Evensong at 6.30 p.m.

Called Together Service will be held at Leicester Cathedral at 11 a.m. on Saturday, 8th October. Roger Flowers, Angela Allen and Carole Henson will all be re-licensed and commissioned for a further three years at this service. Please consider attending this special service to support them and as a way of showing your appreciation for their work in our benefice.

Creation Spirituality with St Francis of Assisi takes place on Saturday, 24th September, from 4 – 6 p.m. at St Paul’s Church, Hamble Road, Oadby, LE2 4NX and will be led by the Revd Paskal Clement. A chance to listen to St Francis’ love story for creation. To book tel Parish Office 272 0080, email office@parishoffice.fsnet.co.uk or paskalm@yahoo.com

Christ in the Centre 2012 – Anyone wanting to join the cast or find out more about the many technical roles which need to be done to support the production can attend a casting workshop being held at St Andrew’s Church Hall, Gateway St, Leicester on Saturday, 29th October, 10.30 a.m.
Contact Hilary Ayling (Hilary.citc@gmail.com 07963 311210); or Jonathan Wheeler (wheelerwoodhouse@ntlworld.com 0116 220 9318).

Great Glen Charity – There is money to help people buy vital new equipment such as a washing machine if they’re stuck for funds so if ever you hear a comment like “I don’t know how I’m going to manage without ...”, please get in touch with the Vicar or one of the other trustees.

Hearing Loop – St Andrew’s Church at Burton Overy now has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system. If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.

Children during the 10.30 a.m. Communion Services are invited to move into the north aisle (whether at Glen or Burton) after the Gloria to engage with the day’s bible story in ways that they will appreciate. They rejoin their parents in the pews at The Peace.

Humour is a Gift – Through a child’s eyes:
“Dear God, I bet it is very hard to love all of everybody in the whole world. There are only four people in my family and I can never do it. Nan”

Please pray:-

• For parents as they bring up their children, and for young people trying to find employment.
• For all who are ill or suffering.
• For the diocesan clergy conference taking place this week, that it might be a time of learning and refreshment.
• For the family and friends of Judith Tebbutt who was kidnapped after her husband’s murder in Kenya, and for those searching for her.
• For those having difficulty having children due to miscarriages and other problems.
• For the trapped miners in Wales, their families, friends and the rescue services.
• For the cessation of the violence in Syria.

Proverb of the Week:
“The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.”(Proverbs 27 v 9)
