A delightful letter of thanks has been received from Head Teacher, Mark Ingham, of Uplands Infant School in Leicester who are so grateful for the Harvest Festival collection at Burton Overy which enables their annual visit to Craig Langton’s farm to take place – see church noticeboard.
Confirmation – Jayne Jackson is to be confirmed at St Wilfrid’s Church, Kibworth at 6.30 p.m. this evening. Helen Dartnall will also be reaffirming her vows at the same service. Please do come and support these two ladies.
A Guided Walk around Great Glen will take place this afternoon starting from the War Memorial at 2 p.m. Learn about village history and events from Heather MacDermid and enjoy a little exercise and pleasant company at the same time!
All Souls Service – Invitations to this service will be sent to the families of those who have died during the last two years but please remember this service is for anyone who wishes to remember a loved one no matter how long ago they died. Do invite anyone you know who might like to come. The service is at St Cuthbert’s Church at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 2nd November. (The invitation letters said Tuesday by mistake)

The Bishop’s Lay Congress 2011 : God, the Universe and Everything – Are science and Christianity compatible? A day looking at how Christianity and science relate to each other with members of the Faraday Institute takes place on Saturday, 26th November from 9.30 a.m. until 3.45 p.m. at The Samworth Enterprise Academy, LE2 6TF. Places are free but must be booked using one of the booking leaflets displayed in the Cathedral.
Cards for Good Causes – The Charity Christmas Card Shop was officially opened in Leicester Cathedral on Monday, 24th October. The shop is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays and will remain open until Wednesday, 14th December. At least 75p in every £1 from card sales is donated to about 25 national and local charities. The shop also sells a wide range of gifts suitable for all ages and items suitable for stocking fillers, wrapping paper and Advent Calendars. Please go along to support your favourite charity.
A Celebration of the 400th Anniversary of the Authorised Version takes place at St Luke’s Church, Newton Harcourt on Sunday, 30th October, at 3.30 p.m. with hymns, prayers and various readings. All welcome. Your support would be much valued.
Martinmass Transcendence and Supper – Leicester Cathedral Patronal Transcendence Service for the Feast of St Martin of Tours has a traditional Choral Eucharist with a contemporary edge inspired by Visions-York on Friday, 11th November, at 6 p.m. in St Martin’s House Grand Hall. Mothers’ Union Vacancy for Part-time Office Administrator – 9 hours per week spread over Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for 44 weeks of the year in a very busy office where interaction with members is the norm. Good English, basic numeracy and good knowledge of computing using Microsoft software is required.
