NOTICES
Advent Service of Light – Do join us for this lovely candlelit service at 6.30 p.m. this evening at St Cuthbert’s Church. With great singing from the choir, it’s a lovely way to start the Christmas preparation season.
We are very grateful to Graham Wearne who, with the help of Jennie and David Graves, has prepared and planted the old tree stump area – it looks so much better and will be beautiful as the plants get established. The remaining flat area will be turfed in the spring.
Christingle making on Friday, 7th December – We need three more volunteers to help older children at our Primary School make the christingles ready for our Christingle Service on Sunday, 9th December. We meet at school at 10.45 a.m. to get things ready to start at 11.15 a.m. We will be finished by 12.15 p.m. Christingles will be made in four classes with two volunteers from our churches in each class along with the class teacher. No prior knowledge needed – it’s pretty easy and we will pair you with an experienced volunteer! If you could help, please contact Mary (259 2238) as soon as possible.
The next Sunday Breakfast at St Cuthbert’s Church will take place on Sunday, 11th December.
We welcome Sophie Clark who has volunteered to help the church for an hour a week for three months as part of her bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. If there are any suitable tasks you would like Sophie to help with, please get in touch with the Vicar.
Mince Pies – As has become our tradition, we shall be having mulled wine and mince pies after the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at St Cuthbert’s Church on Sunday evening, the 18th December. If you are kindly able to provide any mince pies, please would you let Amy Cook or Moira Bartlett know as soon as possible and also indicate how many you will be providing so that we can avoid having a huge surplus.
