 At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

A “plea” from Stephen Foster: Stephen would be very grateful if anyone could supply some little cakes to be given out on campus during International Week and Freshers week at the University of Leicester. These cakes are needed for weeks commencing Monday 22nd and 29th September.  They need to be little cakes so that small flags can be stuck in them advertising the Chaplaincy.  Please speak to Roger or Lyn.

Ride and Stride again enjoyed a beautiful sunny day and thank you to all those who supported this event in any way.  Dave Henson rode in aid of St Cuthbert's and with friends covered 25 miles, visiting 13 churches.  Nick Jones, Jo Taylor, Kelvin Broderick and Simon Gill rode in aid of St Andrew's, covering 44 miles and visiting 22 churches.  We have some very fit people around!  Thank you to all those who sponsored the riders and everyone who manned our churches and welcomed visitors.  Donations still welcome!

Drop-In at St Cuthbert's Church takes place on the first Thursday of each month at 10.0 – 11.30 a.m.

The Benefice Prayer Group will continue to meet on Wednesday mornings to pray for the people and issues in our churches, villages and the wider world.  There is a Prayer Request Box at the back of St Cuthbert’s Church – please do use it and encourage everyone to use it whether they share our faith and our church-going habits or not!

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.  Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.

Keeping people in touch – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment.

Please pray:-

·         For David Neal, Peter Folwell, Phyllis Stanley, Margaret Wood, Peter Wood, Arthur Whitfield, Myra Humphrey, Rachel Stevens (the daughter of Bishop Tim and Wendi), Howard Bartlett and all who are ill.

·         For the people in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza, that peace may return.

·         For the hostages held by IS militants.

Thought for the day: Be yourself no matter what other people think.  God made you the way you are for a reason.  Besides, an original is always worth more than a copy!
