At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

Harvest Gifts.  Thanks to everyone who brought harvest gifts to the services last Sunday.  These have now been distributed to the Dawn Centre in Leicester and Leicester Cathedral Welcome Group.

Licensing Service for the Revd Kim Ford: Thursday 30th October at 7.30 p.m. in St Cuthbert’s Church.  The Church will be very full so please arrive in good time if you want a seat.

The late Rev Ian Phelps. Many will remember Ian who was priest in charge of seven Churches including Burton Overy in the 1990's.  Before that he served all his working life in this Diocese, including Youth Chaplain and Vicar of several parishes.  A memorial service will be held in St Andrew's on Saturday 25th October at 1.30 pm to which all are cordially invited.

Church open.  On Saturday 1st November the church will be open from 10.00 a.m. until
12 noon for anyone who would like to come along and light a candle in memory of their loved ones.

The LOROS Market Harborough Support Group are holding a Frank Sinatra Evening
on Friday 7th November 2014, 7.30 pm at The old Grammar School, Kibworth Beauchamp.  Tickets are £12.50 and include a light supper.  LOROS Christmas cards and gifts will be on sale. Tickets from Fran Brown 0116 2593184.

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.  Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.

Lifts to Services – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.

Greetings Cards  Please do have a look at the cards in church which are for sale.  There are several new ones.  Mother’s Union cards are priced at cost and that money goes towards funding Mother’s Union projects around the world. Some cards cover multiple needs.  “Thinking of you” could be in the loss of a loved one, or on an anniversary or because they are unwell.  Some cards are blank inside and some have a Christian message.  There are other cards in a separate box which are either handmade or from redundant stock for which we would appreciate a voluntary donation for church funds.

Keeping people in touch – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment.

Please pray:-

·         For David Neal, Peter Folwell, Phyllis Stanley, Margaret Wood, Peter Wood, Arthur Whitfield, Myra Humphrey, Rachel Stevens (the daughter of Bishop Tim and Wendi), Howard Bartlett, Heather Alexander, Chris Taylor and all who are ill.
·         For Brenda Leyland, who died in tragic circumstances, and whose funeral took place last Friday.
·         For the people in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza, that peace may return.
·         For the hostages held by IS militants.

Thought for the day:  Good friends are like stars.  You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there.
