At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

 NOTICES

Kim and her family would like the opportunity to get to know you a bit better so would like to invite you to an open house at the vicarage on Saturday the 29th of November.  Drop in to the vicarage any time between 2.00 - 4.00 and have a cup of tea and a piece of cake!

CHARITY CHRISTMAS CARDS are now on sale in St Martin’s square (not in the Cathedral as in previous years).  The shop is just 500 yards from the Cathedral and is open Monday – Saturday 10.00 – 4.00.  At least 70p in every pound from card sales goes to the participating charities.  Last year a magnificent 77p in the pound was given.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE at Leicester Cathedral, Saturday 29th November from  10 a.m. – 4p.m.  Free admission – stalls of gifts and seasonal refreshments, with folk music and games.

CARPARKING ON CHURCH ROAD  For safety reasons, please do not park too close to the old A6.  As a guide, cars should not be parked beyond the last street lamp at the top of Church Road on the Church side.

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.  Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.

Keeping people in touch – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment.

Greetings Cards  Please do have a look at the cards in church which are for sale.  There are several new ones.  Mother’s Union cards are priced at cost and that money goes towards funding Mother’s Union projects around the world. Some cards cover multiple needs.  “Thinking of you” could be in the loss of a loved one, or on an anniversary or because they are unwell.  Some cards are blank inside and some have a Christian message.  There are other cards in a separate box which are either handmade or from redundant stock for which we would appreciate a voluntary donation for church funds.

Please pray:-

·         For Peter Folwell, Margaret Wood, Peter Wood, Arthur Whitfield, Myra Humphrey, Rachel Stevens (the daughter of Bishop Tim and Wendi),  Heather Alexander, Chris Taylor, Margaret Bannister, and all who are ill.

·         For the soul of Roy Newton whose funeral took place at Burton Overy last week.

·         For the people in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza, and all other places of conflict in the world, that peace may return.

·         For the hostages held by IS militants.

·         For all those suffering from the Ebola virus and the aid workers who are treating them.

THOUGHT FO THE DAY

The happiest people do not necessarily have the ‘best’ things.  They simple appreciate the things they have.
