News in the pews

News in the pews

Sunday 10th March – First of Lent

Collect for Today
Heavenly Father,
your Son battled with the powers of darkness, and grew closer to you in the desert: help us to use these days to grow in wisdom and prayer that we may witness to your saving love in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Post Communion Prayer
Lord God,
you have renewed us with the living bread from heaven; by it you nourish our faith, increase our hope, and strengthen our love: teach us always to hunger for him who is the true and living bread,
and enable us to live by every word that proceeds from out of your mouth; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Church Electoral Roll –

Thank you to all those people who have completed their forms and returned them to me.  For those who haven’t completed their forms yet please note that forms must be returned to me by Sunday 17th March at the very latest. Completed forms can be put in the basket on the table at the back of church or posted through my door.  If you would like me to come and collect your form please give me a ring.

Church Electoral Roll –
St Cuthbert’s
Every six years we have to totally renew our church electoral roll, this is one of those years. All names are taken off the roll and are only put on if you fill in the form. So if you would like to be on the church electoral roll please pick up a form at the back of the church and give it to Helen Dartnall, or place in the blue folder at the back of church. All forms must be in by the 17th March, a big thank you to all who have already filled them in.

All electoral roll forms must be in by next Sunday the 17th March for all three churches.

Lent Course
This year will be a 6 week course and we will be following the TV series called 'Broken.'
“The series focuses on Michael Kerrigan (Sean Bean), the priest of a Roman Catholic parish in a northern English city, who despite suffering from his own troubles stemming from a traumatic childhood, tries to guide several of his most vulnerable parishioners through the trials and tribulations of everyday life."
The course will start on the 4th and 6th March, we will watch an episode and have a discussion to follow.
There will be two choices, Monday nights or Wednesday afternoons. Monday nights will start on the 4th March at 7pm for 6 consecutive weeks at 6 Hilltop Ave. Wednesday afternoons will start on the 6th March at 1:30pm for 6 consecutive weeks at the Methodist Church. Please sign up for one or the other so we have an idea of numbers for each venue. If you have any questions please ask Kim.

Quiet Prayer And Meditation
There will be no more sessions of the above group until  after Easter.

Church Website, we are building a new church website at the moment so all of our information will be more accessible to the public. It will have recordings of the sermons, information on our toddler groups, Sunday services and much more. I need your help however, I am looking for pictures you might have taken at any of the activities/services we have done over the last year or so. If you have any can you please email them to me at kimberleykford@aim.com
