news in the pews

Sunday 3rd November
All Saints and All Souls

Collect for Today
God of holiness,
your glory is proclaimed in every age:
as we rejoice in the faith of your saints,
inspire us to follow their example
with boldness and joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Post Communion Prayer
God, the source of all holiness and giver of all good things:
may we who have shared at this table
as strangers and pilgrims here on earth
be welcomed with all your saints
to the heavenly feast on the day of your kingdom;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Advent Prayer Course starting on Tuesday the 26th Nov, 3rd, 10th Dec and Wednesday 18th Dec
at 7:30 pm

The course was set up by Pete Greig who was the founder of the 24/7 prayer movement. There are 8 sessions and during the four evenings we will do two each time. The sessions include 1.Why pray, 2.Adoration, 3.Petition, 4.Intercession, 5.Unanswered prayer, 6.Contemplation, 7.Listening and 8.Spiritual Warfare. These are sessions to help us go deeper into our understanding of prayer and how it can give us the tools to pray effectively. The last session will be held on a Wednesday as to avoid clashing with Carlton Curlieu’s Carol Service. We hope you can join us as we seek to deeper in our understanding. If you would like more details please contact Sarah
(her details are on the front of the news sheet).

In order to thank the Lord for this weekend and prepare for the course we are going to have a prayer and praise evening on the 20th Nov at 7:30, anyone is welcome even if you are not able to do the course.

ALPHA Course starting in January. We will be running an Alpha course. This is a 10-week course each evening starts with fellowship around a hot meal and then goes into a talk about who God is and what the Christian faith is all about. It takes time to delve into the big questions people ask and helps us to discover new understanding. After the talk we will break up into smaller groups with a group leader and discuss the questions the talk has raised in a smaller setting.
If you are interested in either coming or helping in this course please talk to Kim or Sarah about how to come or how to be involved.
