News in the pews

Sunday 24th November
Christ The King, Next Sunday before Advent

Collect for Today
God the Father,
help us to hear the call of Christ the King and to follow in his service,
whose kingdom has no end;
for he reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, one glory
Post Communion Prayer
Stir up, O Lord,
the wills of your faithful people;
that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may by you be plenteously rewarded;
through Jesus Christ our Lord

Please note BCP Services in December:-
The usual 8:00 am BCP services on the 8th, 15th and 22nd December.  The 25th and 29th of December are at 9:00 am. This is due to the other services being at either 10:30 or 10:45 and therefore we have made them later to help in the busy season. Please put a note in your diaries!

Charities Help
I would like to bring to your attention that our village and church have two charities that are there to help anyone who lives in the village and are in times of need. During this time of the year or any time of the year, there are those who need or find it difficult to make ends meet. The two charities are there to help people who live in Great Glen for things like Christmas presents, replacing a washing machine, helping with school costs if they cannot afford an activity or other needs that they are unable to do without help so there are many different areas in which the charities can help. So if you know of anyone who needs help or indeed if you find yourself in a place of need please feel free to have a word with Kim or the church wardens to find out how we might be able to help.

Advent Prayer Course starting on Tuesday the 26th Nov, 3rd, 10th Dec and Wednesday 18th Dec
at 7:00 pm

The course was set up by Pete Greig who was the founder of the 24/7 prayer movement. There are 8 sessions and during the four evenings we will do two each time. The sessions include 1.Why pray, 2.Adoration, 3.Petition, 4.Intercession, 5.Unanswered prayer, 6.Contemplation, 7.Listening and 8.Spiritual Warfare. These are sessions to help us go deeper into our understanding of prayer and how it can give us the tools to pray effectively. The last session will be held on a Wednesday as to avoid clashing with Carlton Curlieu’s Carol Service. We hope you can join us as we seek to deeper in our understanding. If you would like more details please contact Sarah (her details are on the front of the news sheet).

In order to thank the Lord and prepare for the course we are going to have a weekly afternoon prayer and praise session, anyone is welcome even if you are not able to do the course. For further details please contact Sarah Collins – Tel: 07525 491496

ALPHA Course starting in January.
We will be running an Alpha course. This is a 10-week course each evening starts with fellowship around a hot meal and then goes into a talk about who God is and what the Christian faith is all about. It takes time to delve into the big questions people ask and helps us to discover new understanding. After the talk we will break up into smaller groups with a group leader and discuss the questions the talk has raised in a smaller setting.
If you are interested in either coming or helping in this course please talk to Kim or Sarah about how to come or how to be involved.
