At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES
Fund Raising Day for Haiti on Sunday, 7th March – Liz Sturgess is arranging this event in Burton Overy Village Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please come along and support this very worthwhile cause. None of us can imagine having to live in the conditions in Haiti after the earthquake. Entry is £2. for adults and children free. Refreshments available. There will be stalls for cakes, good bric-a-brac, books and plants. If you have any contributions for these stalls, please contact Liz on 259 2049.

Haiti Earthquake – We will soon be sending the kind donations given for helping victims of the Haiti earthquake to Christian Aid. If you still want to give, the bucket at the back of St Cuthbert’s will be there for a few more days.

The Lent Course this year runs each Thursday from 25th February to 25th March from 7.30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Methodist Church.

The Cathedral Lent Lectures on Wednesday Evenings by Bishop Tim take place at Leicester Cathedral from 7 p.m. until 8.30 p.m. Each 40 minute lecture will be followed by questions and refreshments.

Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival update – Thirty people attended a public meeting in Burton Overy Village Hall on Thursday, 4th February, to discuss the future of the Christmas Tree Festival. The meeting demonstrated unanimous support for the Festival and a determination to keep it going, albeit in a somewhat scaled-down form. The present committee was disbanded and all the members thanked for their contributions to past Festivals. All expressed their willingness to give future support to Lizzie King who has volunteered to take on the role of Co-ordinator. In due course, she will select a small steering committee for the 2010 Festival. Lizzie’s offer was warmly appreciated and endorsed and she was assured of the support of everyone present

Bishop Tim will be appearing on the ‘Beyond Belief’ programme on Radio 4 on Monday, 22nd February. (Please check listings for details)

Anthony Nolan Trust – Sing for Life takes place on Thursday, 25th March, at 6 p.m. in Desford Church. The Anthony Nolan Trust is at the forefront of developments in tissue transplantation and bone marrow register management and this is our chance to help this vital work. The idea is to sing 50 hymns non-stop. Come and join the singing – either for the whole 50 or jut a few. Sponsor the singers. Nominate your favourite hymn for £1.
