Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to

Remedial
works to the north porch - Work is progressing well on the repairs to the
porch. However the porch must remain
closed until this work is completed and consequently the toilets are still not
in use. Access to the church will only
be gained via the south porch. It is
suggested that anyone approaching from Church Road use the kissing gate and
footpath to the side to keep well away from the building site.
Ride
and Stride Day takes place this year on Saturday, 14th September.
Take the chance to cycle or walk around the churches and chapels of
Leicester and Leicestershire. Around 400
will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. for this event. This is great opportunity to raise money for
the church. Sponsorship forms are in all
the churches of the Benefice.
Time
Out
returns on Saturday, 14th September from 4 until 6 p.m. and is being held in
the Church.
New
Priest
- People have been enquiring as to where we are with regard to the appointment
of a new priest. The situation is that
we are still at the stage of producing our parish profiles which will then be
amalgamated into a benefice profile.
Once approved by the Archdeacon's office, they will be discussed with
the PCCs after which a meeting will take place with the Area Dean. Only then will we be in a position to start
looking for a priest. The interregnum
will not be a short one on this occasion.
Flower
Festival at Leicester Cathedral takes place from Friday, 13th to Monday,
16th September entitled "Loyalty Binds Me" which was the motto of
Richard III and is a celebration of faithfulness. The Festival opening hours are 10 a.m. until
6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Monday and from 12.30 p.m. until 5 p.m. on
Sunday. Tickets £8/£6 (under 12s free)
are available from Christian Resources Leicester on 0116 261 5222. There will also be a Festival Choral Evensong
on the Sunday at 6.30 p.m. when the preacher will be the former Bishop of
Leicester (now the Bishop of Southwark)
the Rt Rev Dr Tom Butler. Free
entry. Retiring collection.
Wistow
Choral Evensong on Sunday, 25th August 2013 at 6 p.m. - There will be a
Choral Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer at St Wistan's with a choir from
St Mary De Castro. All welcome.
Volunteer at Launde Fun Day - With the Bank Holiday weekend almost upon us, the staff
at Launde Abbey are asking if you have any time to spare to help with the
annual Launde Abbey Fun Day on August Bank Holiday Monday, the 26th
August. As you will appreciate, fund
raising events cannot be organised without the valuable help of
volunteers. Volunteers have great fun
whilst they are there and help is required both before and after the
event. There are jobs available to suit
all ages and capabilities ranging from preparing the grounds, erecting
temporary fencing, laminating signs, manning stalls, assisting with the car
park and, of course, helping to clear away afterwards. If you have any time to spare on Sunday, the
25th, Monday the 26th, or Tuesday the 27th August, Launde would love to hear
from you. Overnight accommodation is
available for those who need it for a very small donation of £10. which covers
food too and, of course, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are
helping to raise valuable funds for Launde Abbey. If you are able to help, please contact
Suzanne@launde.org.uk
Please pray:-
·
For the families and friends of Maureen Lochhead
and Gwendoline Bramhall who died recently.
·
For Jim Dunning, Peter Wood, John Spencer, Myra
Humphrey, Judith Buffrey’s grandson Joel, Rachel Stevens, and all who are ill.
·
For all afflicted by the terrible violence in Egypt that some
sort of peace may return to this troubled country.
·
For the two girls afflicted by the acid attack in Zanzibar that their
physical injuries and the mental scarring may heal.
·
That we may all enjoy the remainder of the summer
and have an enjoyable Bank Holiday before children return to school and
students return to university.
