At
Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are
welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in
your seat or come up to receive a blessing.
Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you
wish to receive a blessing. If you have
difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to
you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES
Drop-In at St Cuthbert's Church takes place on the first Thursday of each
month at 10 – 11.30 a.m. David Graves has kindly volunteered to run the Drop-in
on 3rd July so please come along and support him.
The Benefice Prayer Group will continue to meet on Wednesday
mornings to pray for the people and issues in our churches, villages and the
wider world. There is a Prayer Request
Box at the back of St Cuthbert’s Church – please do use it and encourage
everyone to use it whether they share our faith and our church-going habits or
not!
New lights
have been fitted inside the church and the timer system on the lights outside
the porch has been resolved. The
floodlights should be in working order by the autumn.
Quiet Day at Launde Abbey – 1st September – Time is running out to book your
place. For details and to make a
reservation please contact Christine Higgins on 2592624
St Cuthbert
- A Booklet about his life has been placed at the back of the Church for
perusal. It would be appreciated if it
was not taken away to read.
Messy Church
– Due to falling numbers Messy Church may not continue until we have appointed
a new vicar.
Judith Buffrey’s grandson Joel – Judith has written a very nice note as
follows: “Thank you so much for all your
prayers for Joel. He is now very well
and eagerly awaiting the arrival of his new baby sister. God bless you all.” This is very good news indeed.
Open Church and Teas, Dunton Bassett -All Saints Church
Dunton Bassett will be open on Sunday 15th June from 2pm - 4 pm and on every
subsequent Sunday until the end of September. Tea and home-made cakes will be
available.
Big diocesan
festival/funday/opening of Cathedral Gardens and faith sharing day on
Saturday 5th July - Suitable for all ages, there’s more about the day here: www.leicester.anglican.org/garden-of-life The official opening is at midday and the
festivities culminate in a simple service of open air baptism followed by free
hot dogs (finishing at 6pm). It’s all free and everyone is welcome to come for
some or all of the afternoon.
TODAY – the second of the
Mission Partnership ‘big’ evensongs is taking place at St. Michael and All Angels
Church at Ilston on the Hill. We try to
take our joint choir members to one of the smaller churches in the Gartree
Mission Partnership, and on Sunday 15th at 18.30 we will have a
choir of 23 singing the Evening Service - a few less than usual because of
singers on holiday. Do come and enjoy a
different church, and meet some of our Deanery neighbours.
WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring
to church services. St Cuthbert’s
supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and
St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.
Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee,
tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn),
shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.
Events at
Launde Abbey this year
includes Pudding Nights and Steak Nights, as well as a variety of musical
events throughout the summer and autumn and the restaurant is open daily for
lunches, snacks and afternoon teas. Please call the General Office on 01572
717254 for more information or visit the website http://www.laundeabbey.org.uk.
Keeping people in touch – Please do take copies of this news-sheet
to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get
to church at the moment.
Lifts to
Services – If you need a
lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen
or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.
Please pray:-
·
For
David Neal, Peter Folwell, Phyllis Stanley, Margaret Wood, Peter Wood, Arthur
Whitfield, John Spencer, Katherine, Alan Chandler, Terry Taylor, Julia Burrows,
