At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church,
you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in
your seat or come up to receive a blessing.
Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you
wish to receive a blessing. If you have
difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to
you, then please inform a sidesman.

BURTON OVERY
CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL 5th – 7th DECEMBER Come and see the display of trees in the
church and visit the Village Hall to enjoy a piece of homemade cake and start
your Christmas shopping from the many stalls.
This year’s charity is The Alzheimer’s Society. Admission £2.50, Children free. Friday and Saturday 10.00 – 6.30 p.m; Sunday
10.00 – 5.00 p.m. The Festival will

ST ANDREW’S BURTON OVERY is very
grateful to David Nowill and Ian Selvey-Willars, both of whom have used their
considerable skills to help with maintenance tasks. David has painted the flagpole in the chancel
and solved the problem which made opening the wall safe extremely difficult. Ian made the organ stool stable, after it had
lost its wooden support following the work in the Chancel
CHARITY CHRISTMAS
CARDS
are now on sale in St Martin’s square (not in the Cathedral as in previous
years). The shop is just 500 yards from
the Cathedral and is open Monday – Saturday 10.00 – 4.00. At least 70p in every pound from card sales
goes to the participating charities.
Last year a magnificent 77p in the pound was given.
GREETINGS CARDS Please do have a look at the cards in church which are for sale. There are several new ones. Mother’s Union cards are priced at cost and that money goes towards funding Mother’s Union projects around the world. Some cards cover multiple needs. “Thinking of you” could be in the loss of a loved one, or on an anniversary or because they are unwell. Some cards are blank inside and some have a Christian message. There are other cards in a separate box which are either handmade or from redundant stock for which we would appreciate a voluntary donation for church funds.
CARPARKING ON CHURCH ROAD For safety reasons, please do not park too
close to the old A6. As a guide, cars
should not be parked beyond the last street lamp at the top of Church Road on
the Church side.
