At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

TEAM ALPHA COURSE- The course is taking place on Wednesday evenings during January and February from 7pm to 9pm at St Paul's in Oadby.  If you have any questions please call Kim on 0116 2592238 or see her after a service.

LENT COURSE - This year the theme is 'God Has No Favourites.'  We will start off the theme with Ash Wednesday (18th February) at St Cuthbert's and then the following five weeks at the Methodist Church.  There will be teaching and a chance for good discussion.  Come and join one or all of the sessions. More details to come soon.

WELLSPRING Sunday January 25th 6.30pm Trinity Methodist Church.  WellSpring is a new ecumenical evening service on the 4th Sunday of each month.  Its launch takes place on Sunday 25th January.  Lead by Emily Walker, Director of Music at St Peter’s Oadby, this is a service that offers refreshment, reflection and challenge.  WellSpring will draw on a wide range of music and spirituality from Iona, Taizé, and the worldwide church.

OADBY COMMUNITY CHOIR  Tuesdays from 27th January 7.30pm – 9.00pm Trinity Methodist Church.  This is a new initiative: singers of all abilities are welcome to come and join what will be an entirely new choir.  Directed by Emily Walker, the Oadby Community Choir offers fun and singing in equal measure. Everyone welcome.

WORSHIP CENTRAL GATHERING Sunday 1st February at 6.30 p.m., Central Baptist Church, Charles Street.  At the start of this new year there will be worshippers gathering all over the world in at least 100 different locations drawing people together to worship, pray and connect with the vision of Worship Central: to see the worship of Jesus Christ made central in society again!  As part of this global vision come and join a local gathering here in Leicester:

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BECOME A SIDESMAN ? The job of sidesperson is very important.  Why?  Because you should be the first person anyone walking into a church service sees.  The reception one gets when walking into a church for the first time, or even into a different church, can be a decisive point as to whether one makes a return visit.  We would like more volunteers especially for 10.30 services.  If you would like to be included please let Amy Cook know so that your name can be presented at the next AGM.  It is not an arduous job, it just involves meeting and greeting people, giving out books, taking the collection and collecting the books in again at the end of the service.

GREETINGS CARDS  Please do have a look at the cards in church which are for sale.  There are several new ones.  Mother’s Union cards are priced at cost and that money goes towards funding Mother’s Union projects around the world. There are other cards in a separate box which are either handmade or from redundant stock for which we would appreciate a voluntary donation for church funds.

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.  Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.

CHURCH BREAKFAST
The church breakfast, which is growing in numbers and takes place after the 8.30am service on the second Sunday in the month. We have coffee and croissants during an informal fellowship time, where we chat and share news and have a laugh! The 8.30am service on the second Sunday of the month is always at St Cuthbert’s Great Glen, and all are welcome. The next breakfast will be on the 8th March

LIFTS TO SERVICES – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.

KEEPING PEOPLE IN TOUCH – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment.
