If you are a communicant member of a
Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and
wine. Otherwise you are welcome to
either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will
signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the
Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a
sidesman.

the first time and Amy Cook, Jane Parkinson, Lyn Flowers, Phyllis Hallam and
Anne Folwell were re-elected. Ex-officio
members of the PCC are David Webster and David Graves (Churchwardens), Roger
Flowers and Angela Allen (Readers), Martin Tacey and Moira Bartlett (Deanery Synod
representatives) and Carole Henson (Pastoral Assistant). At the short PCC after the AGM Martin Tacey
and Jane Parkinson were re-elected as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Amy Cook was re-elected as Deputy Churchwarden,
Roger Hickling was re-elected as Electoral Roll Secretary and Phyllis Hallam
was re-elected as Flower Secretary. Also,
Amy Cook was elected as Gift Aid Secretary for the first time.
CHURCH LIBRARY There is
now a small library of religious based books on the table at the back of the
Church. Please feel free to borrow any
of them but remember to return. We hope
to continue to expand this library in future.
SUNDAY 10TH
MAY After the service, donations for refreshments
will be for Christian Aid.
BIBLE READING NOTES are a way of connecting passages from scripture with our everyday
life and issues we all encounter. Now is
the time of year when we send off our annual church order. If you haven’t used them before, it could be
worth a year’s trial for the bargain price of £12.90. Do contact Christine Higgins as soon as
possible for more information or to add to our group subscription. Tel: 2592624 or e-mail: chrisples@btinternet.com
GREETINGS CARDS Please do have a look at the cards in church which are for sale. Mother’s Union cards are priced at cost and that money goes towards funding Mother’s Union projects around the world. Some cards cover multiple needs. Some cards are blank inside and some have a Christian message. There are other cards in a separate box which are either handmade or from redundant stock for which we would appreciate a voluntary donation for church funds.
LIFTS TO SERVICES – If you need a
lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen
or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.
KEEPING
PEOPLE IN TOUCH – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know
who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the
moment.
Please pray for:-
·
Margaret Wood, Peter Wood, Arthur Whitfield,
Heather Alexander, Margaret Bannister, Christine Higgins, Kimberley Tyler, Alan
Selway, Elizabeth Tacey, Colin Lacey, and all who are ill.
·
the
people in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza, and all other places of conflict in
the world, that peace may return.
·
the
hostages held by IS militants, and by Boko Haram
·
all
those suffering from the Ebola virus and the aid workers who are treating them.
·
the EU
migrants from North Africa who have drowned in the Mediterranean sea.
GREAT THOUGHTS
The things that
destroy us are injustice, insolence, and foolish thoughts; and the things which
save us are justice, self-command, and true thought, which things dwell in the
loving powers of the gods. Plato
