At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

GIFT ENVELOPES.- Some people like to make a regular donation to St. Cuthbert's Church through a weekly envelope scheme.  For those already using this method the envelopes for the year beginning Sunday September 6th are now in church for you to collect.  If anyone else would like to support the church in this way please get in touch with Amy Cook for a set of envelopes.  If you are able and willing to Gift Aid your donation she can also provide a form for you to sign declaring your intent.
TABLE TOP SALE - We are looking to do a table top sale on Saturday August 29th for a maximum of fifteen tables in the front garden of the Vicarage.  Each table will be £10.00; any profit from what you sell you may keep.  It is a good way in which to sell unwanted items no longer needed and raise funds for our Church.  Please contact David Graves on 01162714420 if you would like to book a table.  If you have any bric-a-brac, DVDs, books, etc and don't feel like having your own table the church will be having a table or two at the sale.  All proceeds from the sale of items will go towards money needed for our new noticeboard near the road.
THE NEXT LADIES NIGHT OUT SOCIAL has been arranged for the evening of Wednesday 2nd September. We will be going to the Yews in Great Glen this time and meet there at 7.15pm. If interested please contact Carole Henson hensonc@talk21.com or 0116 2403368 asap so that she can book a table!
WHEELBARROW RACE - September 5th is the annual wheelbarrow race in the village and this year the church is having a table at the event.  We need your help!  We need cakes, biscuits or any type of sellable sweets.  It would also be good to have volunteers to help on the day to sell the cakes and decorate biscuits with the children.  If you can do either please have a word with Kim and there will be a sign up sheet in the back of the church.
NEW ORGANIST We will be welcoming Andrew Painter as our organist from the beginning of September. He lives in Gaulby and is an experienced church organist, most recently at St. Mary’s Church Knighton. Moira will continue to look after the choir/music and deputise on the organ as necessary with help from Carol Webster when needed.  We are very fortunate to have had enough local talent to keep things going for Arthur during his final illness, but it will be good to once again hear the organ played by a ‘proper’ organist!
We expect that this weekend (22nd/23rd August) the organ will be tuned, have its missing note restored, and a comprehensive survey carried out so that we can effectively plan for its future maintenance. This work will be carried out by Carl Heslop, a young professional organ builder working in the area.
RIDE & STRIDE this year will be on Saturday 12th September 10.00 am until 6.00 pm and Carol Neal is looking for help in greeting visitors to our village church by offering refreshments (these will be provided) and recording their arrival on the relevant form.  If you would like to help there will be a rota on the table at the back of the church to sign your name and the time you are able to cover.  Any questions please phone Carol Neal on 2592988.
GREAT GLEN W.I. would like to invite you to join members in celebrating 100 Years with a Cream Tea to be held at the Methodist Church Hall Sunday 13th September 2.00 - 5.00. We shall have a few stalls plus a chance to meet some of our members, enabling you to see what sort of organisation we are in 2015. We hope you can join us in celebrating the past 100 years, and still looking forward to the future. Please contact Carol Neal, on 2592988 for any further information.

LIFTS TO SERVICES – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.
