news in the pews

Sunday 5th May – Third Sunday of Easter

Collect for Today

Risen Christ,
you filled your disciples with boldness and fresh hope:
strengthen us to proclaim your risen life
and fill us with your peace,
to the glory of God the Father.

Post Communion Prayer
Living God,
your Son made himself known to his disciples
in the breaking of bread:
open the eyes of our faith,
that we may see him in all his redeeming work;
who is alive and reigns, now and for ever.

GET TO KNOW YOUR BIBLE

Sometimes we can all struggle to understand how the Bible relates to our 20th Century day- to- day life. Where do we start?
One way is to use Bible reading notes. These are written by a group of men and women who will take a short Bible passage for each day to help with our understanding, suggest some helpful thoughts, and a way to look forward. It isn't a rigid system to stick to every single day. Sometimes circumstances make this difficult. - and we just need to 'dip in'. I have been ordering a couple of types of bible reading notes (1 written by women for women +and 1 more general). They cost £13.80 for Annual subscription-May 19 to May 20. I am often sent spare copies, which can be 'sampled 'before any annual commitment; this month of May is a good time to try. Do catch me in church or the village. Or give me a ring on 259 2624.
