At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

Kibworth Band Concert at St Cuthbert’s on Saturday, 6th February, was very successful and raised just under £600. shared equally between St Cuthbert’s Church and the band. Thanks are due to the band and all who helped with the event.
On Tues 23rd Feb at 12.15pm, at St. Cuthbert’s School 2 band members are giving a demonstration to encourage children to consider learning to play a brass instrument with the band at Kibworth. Instruments will be loaned free of charge. Parents and grandparents are invited to come to this demonstration along with their children.

Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival update – Thirty people attended a public meeting in Burton Overy Village Hall on Thursday, 4th February, to discuss the future of the Christmas Tree Festival. The meeting demonstrated unanimous support for the Festival and a determination to keep it going, albeit in a somewhat scaled-down form. The present committee was disbanded and all the members thanked for their contributions to past Festivals. All expressed their willingness to give future support to Lizzie King who has volunteered to take on the role of Co-ordinator. In due course, she will select a small steering committee for the 2010 Festival. Lizzie’s offer was warmly appreciated and endorsed and she was assured of the support of everyone present

The Marriage Course is an enrichment course for couples who have been married a few years or for a long time - Mary knows couples who have done this course and found it constructive and highly enjoyable. It is being run at Boboli Restaurant, Kibworth Harcourt, for 7 Monday evenings starting 1st March (excluding Easter Monday). Each evening starts at 7.30 p.m. and commences with a main course followed later with dessert and coffee. The total cost of the course (including meals) is £70. per couple (concessions available). Philippa Hanna’s UK tour will be coming to Thurnby Village Hall on Saturday, 27th February at 7.30 p.m. Philippa’s style appeals across the ages and with a new album “Taste” recently released, it will be a great evening of music, testimony and news of Compassion in Haiti (www.philippahanna.co.uk for more information ). Tickets are £5. for adults and £2.50 for children and students. Tickets can be booked in
advance on 07826 217552 or by email to events@thurnbychurch.com. Mary understands she’s very popular with young people but that the parent generation enjoy her singing because they can hear the words she’s singing! Why not go and enjoy what will undoubtedly be a wonderful evening.

Musical Evening with the Knighton Chamber Orchestra takes place on Saturday, 27th February at Thrussington Church. Enjoy a musical evening with the Orchestra playing the Overture from Mozart’s Magic Flute and Hayden’s Trumpet Concerto. Tickets to include a finger buffet and a glass of wine are £10. each. Tel 01664 424540. All proceeds will go towards the upkeep of this small rural traditional country church.

Christian Muslim Dialogue Group meets on Monday, 22nd February at St Philip’s Church, Evington Road, Leicester from 7.30 p.m. until 9 p.m. – ‘Forgiveness and Mercy in the Bible and Qur’an’. Christian and Muslim speakers followed by discussion.
