We warmly welcome Revd Jordan Ling, Curate at St Christopher’s Church, Samworth Enterprise Academy, Leicester, who will be spending two weeks in our benefice as part of her training. Her experience to date has been city ministry and she wishes to explore rural ministry. She will be with us from Sunday, 8th March to Sunday, 21st March, and she will be delighted to meet you and hear your views about church life in our villages.
Fund Raising Day for Haiti on Sunday, 7th March – Liz Sturgess is arranging this event in Burton Overy Village Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please come having to live in the conditions in Haiti after the earthquake. Entry is £2. for adults and children free. Refreshments available. There will be stalls for cakes, good bric-a-brac, books and plants. If you have any contributions for these stalls, please contact Liz on 259 2049.
Haiti Earthquake – We will soon be sending the kind donations given for helping victims of the Haiti earthquake to Christian Aid. If you still want to give, the bucket at the back of St Cuthbert’s will be there for a few more days.
The Lent Course this year runs each Thursday from 25th February to 25th March from 7.30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Methodist Church.

The Cathedral Lent Lectures on Wednesday Evenings by Bishop Tim take place at Leicester Cathedral from 7 p.m. until 8.30 p.m. Each 40 minute lecture will be followed by questions and refreshments.

A Ceilidh is being organised to raise money for Great Glen Community Wild Space. It will be on Friday, 12th March qt 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall with full refreshments, a raffle and dancing to Greenshoots Ceilidh Orchestra. Tickets are £5. or £3. for concessions if bought in advance from St Cuthbert’s School, the Post Office or from Steering Group members. They will be £6./£4. on the door.
Urgent appeal by the British Red Cross for baby items – jars of baby food for 4 – 6 month olds, baby rice which can be made with boiled water, Cow & Gate formula milk and nappies in size 3-4. Information Meeting for Santiago Pilgrimage takes place on Saturday, 6th March at 3 p.m. at the home of Dana Bagshaw, 8 Milton Gardens, Oadby. Phone 0116 271 4837. – Join a group of pilgrims planning a trip to Santiago de Compostela, Spain from 11th to 15th May 2010. The trip will follow the Camino Inglés (English Way) from the North West Spanish port of La Coruna, similar to Margery Kempe’s trip in 1417. On her return she was tried for heresy in Leicester that same year. Rose Marie Manning who led a similar trip in 2006 will be there to help answer questions.

Anthony Nolan Trust – Sing for Life takes place on Thursday, 25th March, at 6 p.m. in Desford Church. The Anthony Nolan Trust is at the forefront of developments in tissue transplantation and bone marrow register management and this is our chance to help this vital work. The idea is to sing 50 hymns non-stop. Come and join the singing – either for the whole 50 or jut a few. Sponsor the singers. Nominate your favourite hymn for £1.
