NOTICES
Services Cancelled – Computer problems have taken their toll on my work hours so I’m afraid there will not be the usual meditation services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week. I’m sorry about this. Mary

Stoneygate School Choir raised £550. for the church. Our thanks are due to the school for putting this on for us, and to Carol Neal for organising the refreshments.

A Coffee Morning and Bring & Buy in aid of LOROS is being held by Anne Folwell on Wednesday, 7th April from 10.30 a.m. until 12 noon at her house, 2 Stonehill Drive. Please do support this event as LOROS runs such a wonderful service for us.

St Cuthbert’s Church needs a new deputy churchwarden. Please give serious consideration as to whether you might be able to help the church in this way. For more information about the work involved, please speak to the vicar,
current churchwardens and deputy churchwardens. The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Sunday, 11th April 2010, in the evening after a short Songs of Praise at 6.30 pm. Please do come and join our discussions as we review the past year and contemplate the next. Nomination papers for PCC members and churchwardens are at the back of church – please leave completed nomination papers in the envelope provided.

Look out for some new cards on sale in church including cards for Easter. These cards support the work of the Mother’s Union in fighting poverty, injustice and tackling family issues both in this country and overseas.

Maundy Thursday Chrism is at 11 a.m. in the Cathedral. The Bishop invites you all to attend this service along with his clergy when they renew their ordination vows and everyone renews their baptism vows. Lunch is offered afterwards. Mary is going – would anyone like to go with her?

Good Friday – There will be the usual All-Age Breakfast & Worship starting at 8 a.m. in Burton Overy Village Hall with plenty of food to enjoy and lots of activities for the children. Do come and join us. If you prefer something more traditional and reflective, then come to the Meditation Service at 2 p.m. at t Cuthbert’s Church. (Please note a Parish Magazine error – there is NO Meditation Service at Carlton Curlieu this year).

Donations for Easter lilies – If anyone would like to make a donation for Easter lilies, please see either Phyllis Hallam or Arthur Whitfield.

Family Easter Sunday lunch & tea will be served at Launde Abbey on 4th April. There will also be a Children’s Easter Egg hunt. Pre-booking is essential. For information, telephone 01572 717 254 or see www.launde.org.uk

Back to Church Sunday – The Mission Partnership is running a training about this at St Cuthbert’s Church at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 21st April. Please can all churchwardens, sidesmen, etc attend this if possible so we can decide whether to take part in this growing national annual event.

Sunday Children’s Work and Technology Team – Both teams could do with an extra member or two. If you could give a little help to this important work, please contact the vicar or those involved.

St Cuthbert’s Church Cleaning – We desperately need more volunteers for this. If you can help, even if only once or twice a year, please put your name down for a date or two on the list at the back of the church.

The Big Church Day Out – Get Involved! After its massive success in Sussex last year, the Big Church Day Out is hitting the midlands! May 29th will see 10,000 people arriving at Stanford Hall (near Loughborough) to hear some of the best Christian musicians and worship leaders, dance, eat and relax with family and friends in the sunshine. We’re looking for people to be part of the special team that makes this happen. Why not volunteer with us and get a free ticket? We need people to do everything from stewarding to face painting, visual arts, driving and artist hospitality. If you’re interested in volunteering, then please contact marycorfield@googlemail.com or ring her on 07887 948 263. For more information on the event, check out the website www.bigchurchdayout.com

Laughter is a great gift – “I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish he didn’t trust me so much.” Mother Teresa

Lifts to Services – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.

Keeping people in touch – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment.

Proverb of the Week: Whoever stubbornly refuses to accept criticism will suddenly be broken beyond repair. (Proverbs 29 v1)
