NOTICES

2020 Vision Meeting – By 2020, the Church of England will have 20% fewer full-time paid clergy available. Parishes have been asked to give the Diocese some feedback to help them plan for the future. St Cuthbert’s PCC are holding an open meeting to discuss this issue and to formulate Great Glen’s response. They would like to invite to this meeting anyone from St Cuthbert’s Church who would like to take part in this discussion. The meeting is on Wednesday, 1st December, at 7.30 p.m. in St Cuthbert’s Church.

New Carpet – We are very grateful to Carole Henson for the lovely new carpet which she has supplied for the north aisle at St Cuthbert’s Church. It will make it much more comfortable for the children and it looks much better than the old worn-out one.

Vicar’s Stall Tidied! – Some kind person tidied the shelf of the vicar’s stall, for which she is very grateful. However, the clipboard with Gloria signing instructions has gone missing. If anyone knows of its whereabouts, please could they tell Mary.

Beetle Drives are fun – Would anyone like to organise one for St Cuthbert’s Church? They are very easy to organise, perhaps by one or two people working together.

Advent Service of Light - Come and enjoy this candlelit service of hymns and readings with the choir at St Cuthbert’s Church at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday, 28th November – a good way of starting our preparations for the run-up to Christmas.

Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival – If anyone wants to enter a tree and has no entry form, or simply wants more details, please contact Angus on 259 0141 or gummi800@hotmail.com

Wanted for the Christmas Tree Festival – Do you have unwanted CDs or DVDs cluttering up your shelves. We’d like to sell them on our Book Stall at the Christmas Tree Festival in Burton Overy. Please let Joan Stephens have them (259 2210). Also we need extension leads for lighting the Christmas Trees. If you can spare any for the Festival, we would be very grateful. Please leave them in Burton Overy church during the week commencing Monday, 29th November, clearly marked with your name. Greenery – If you can spare any ivy from your garden, please leave outside Burton Overy church door over the weekend of November 27th/28th. The Flower Club would be very grateful.

Cards for Good Causes are now on sale at Leicester Cathedral and St Dionysus Church, Market Harborough until the 17th December. 75p in every pound goes to the charity as opposed to a few pence from charity cards bought in retail shops.

Do you need ideas for Burton Overy’s Christmas Tree Festival? Why not go to one of these the weekend before, 26th-28th Nov, at St Botolph’s, Shepshed; Christchurch, Mountsorrel; or All Saints, Husbands Bosworth.

We would really appreciate the help of Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust in recruiting local people by spreading the word about the vacancies and directing people to our dedicated recruitment site www.censusjobs.co.uk
