At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.   Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

Thank you to Carol Henson and all her assistants who helped with the India Supper Evening which raised a wonderful £276. in aid of St Cuthbert's funds.

St Andrew's Church, Burton Overy - Churchyard Clean-up - We are arranging for our annual churchyard clean-up on Saturday, 28th July from 9.15a.m. until 12.30 p.m.  All who can lend a hand would be more than welcome.  It would be helpful if you could bring with you a strimmer, strong gloves, shears, spade, rake, hoe, wheelbarrow.  However, if you can't supply any of these, don't worry - just bring yourself along.

The next Time Out will be Saturday, 4th August at St Cuthbert's Church from 4 until 6 p.m.  Food and drink will be provided for a donation.

BBQ Lunch - Mary is hoping to organise a bring and share BBQ lunch this summer once the weather improves.

The next Sunday Breakfast will be on Sunday, 12th August at St Cuthbert's Church.

Congratulations to Phil and Kimberley Tyler on the safe arrival of Charlotte Eva May (8lbs 1oz) born at home on the 11th July - nearly three weeks early.

A big "thank you" to Graham and Jenny Wearne for donating the grass turfs and laying them in our churchyard.  Please do take the time to look how wonderful their hard work is now looking.  This time next year it will be a lovely backdrop for pictures to be taken of bride and grooms at weddings.

A flower-arranging demonstration by Rosemary Mason will be held on Thursday evening, September 6th, in aid of St Cuthbert's Church funds.  Rosie holds a warrant for making the posies carried by the Queen and her attendants at the Maundy Services.  Please put this date in your diary.

Service Amendments - There are corrections to a few services detailed in  the Church Magazine Summer Issue.  Please note that the 10.30 a.m. service on the 22nd July will be Matins at St Andrew's, Burton Overy (as listed in the services on the front page of News in the Pews) and the services on the 26th August are 8.30 a.m. at St Cuthbert's and 10.30 a.m. at St Andrew's (in the magazine they are they are the other way round).

LEP discussions - On the 15th July and the 19th August, we will be sharing both 10.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. services with Glen Methodist Church.  On the 16th September we have arranged an open meeting to discuss whether or not to continue our exploration of joining the two churches together.  Methodist and Anglican officials from the District and Diocese will be present to answer people's questions.  The meeting will take place after the 10.30 a.m. service and will be followed by a bring and share lunch.

On Your Marks’ Children’s Holiday Club - Tuesday 24th to Saturday 28th July  at Christ Church, Thurnby Lodge. For children aged 4-11 and runs from 2-4.30pm. The cost is £2 per child per session. For further information and bookings ring Kath on 0116 2695655. Limited places!

Teas in Church, Tilton on the Hill - Each Sunday in July - Teas in Church at St.Peters Church, Tilton on the Hill LE7 9LG. Tea/coffee cakes, cream teas. Disabled access. Time 3 - 5pm.

Mapping Faith and Place in Leicester - The University of Leicester cordially invites you to attend a day of discussion and debate on Thursday, 26th July, at St Martins House.  For information contact Heather Lomas on office@heatherlomas.co.uk or 0116 270 0386.  This is a chance to discuss -
·         the role of faith buildings as part of our heritage in Leicester
·         the nature of the sacred, particularly in relation to places of worship
·         the way faith places fit into and are understood by local communities

Open Gardens - The gardens at Belvoir Lodge Belvoir, near Grantham, NG32 1PA will be open today from 12 noon until 4 p.m. by kind permission of the Dowager Duchess of Rutland.  The entrance fee is £4 for adults, accompanied children free, and all proceeds will go to Menphys, the local charity which supports children and young people with mental and physical disabilities, their parents, carers and families.
