Great Glen Community WildSpace were delighted to be awarded the Cleaner and Greener Award from the Rural Community Council (Leicestershire & Rutland).  The judges were impressed by the work of GGCWS at the Sence Meanders WildSpace at the recreation ground and their links with St Cuthbert's CE Primary school.  The children take part in a project 'Seed to Tree' collecting tree seeds and nurturing them in the school's tree nursery until they are big enough to plant out in the school grounds or the village.  All are welcome to a Public Consultation meeting to share ideas for the extension  to the Sence Meanders WildSpace on land owned by Harborough DC.  It will be discussed how to use the prize money from the Award.  It will be an informal meeting with light refreshments on Thursday, 11th October at the Scout HQ on Stretton Road at 7.30 p.m.

LOROS Hospice - A virtual tour of their facilities can be seen on their website http://www.loros.co.uk   Contrary to many people's understanding LOROS is not a place for people to go to die.  They are real experts in making the most of the rest of life (far better than hospitals) and they help not only the patient but also their relatives.  People receiving  are from LOROS usually do so as day visitors, they usually only stay in the hospice for as long as it takes to sort out their medication, etc.  LOROS assist with nursing at home.  Why not have a look online to learn more about LOROS?  It's best to find out about these things when you don't need them - and you might one day be able to help someone else by passing on what you have discovered.

Humour is a gift – A boy's confession.  "Bless me Father, for I have sinned.  I have been with a loose girl."  The priest asks, "Is that you, little Joey Pagano?"  "Yes, Father, it is."  "And who was the girl you were with?"  "I can't tell you, Father.  I don't want to ruin her reputation".  "Well Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now.  Was it Tina Minetti?"  "I cannot say."  The Priest then tries the names of four other girls without success.  The priest sighs in frustration.  "You're very tight lipped and I admire that.  But you've sinned and have to atone.  You cannot be an altar boy now for four months.  Now go and behave yourself."  Joey walks back to his pew and his friend whispers "What'd you get?"  "Four months vacation and five good leads."

Hearing Loop – St Andrew’s Church at Burton Overy has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system.  If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.
