At Communion Services


If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.   Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

A Harvest Bring & Share Lunch will be held at St Cuthbert's Church at
12.30 p.m. following this morning's Harvest Festival Service.  Do come and bring anyone who would enjoy it - it doesn't matter whether they've been to the service or not!

Pastoral Assistant - Carole Henson has reluctantly decided that in view of her increased family commitments she can no longer continue with this role.  We are immensely grateful to Carole for all the work she has done in our churches, especially with children and young families, over the last few years.  It has been invaluable.


Stoneygate School are bringing their Year 2 Class to visit St Cuthbert's Church at 9.30 a.m. on Friday, 9th November.  Their visit lasts about an hour and we need one more adult to explain what the pulpit and lectern are used for.  If you can help, please contact the Vicar (it's a pleasant and not very onerous task).


Midweek Holy Communion - Each month there is a short Holy Communion Service at 11.30 a.m. at St Cuthbert's Church after the Drop-In on a Thursday morning.  The next one will be on Thursday, 18th October.  Do come and bring any friends who might appreciate this.  Do come and bring any friends who might appreciate this.  It is usually a BCP service, depending on the wishes of those present.

The All Souls Service is on Friday 2nd November, 7.30 pm at St. Cuthbert’s Church.  Invitations to this service are sent to those who have been bereaved in the last 2 years but the service for ANYONE who wishes to remember loved ones who have died no matter how long ago. 

The 2020 Vision Road Show takes place on Tuesday, 30th October at St Dionysius, Market Harborough from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.  Bishop Tim will be coming along with other members of the Senior Staff team to present the outcome of the 2020 Vision process and what the implications are for the diocese and the Gartree deaneries.  The Bishop is very keen that as many people as possible from PCCs and DCCs and other interested people in our churches should come to this event.

 
“Multi-Faith Spaces Touring Exhibition” in St Philip’s Church, Evington, from Tuesday 23rd October (10 am – 4 pm) until Friday 26th October (10 am – 12 noon).  32 photographic panels featuring work from many countries.  Free admission.  Discussion group will be held from 5 – 7pm on Wednesday 24th October.  Is it practical for every faith to have its own space? Or one empty space into which each faith takes things for use in its allotted time slot – but is such a space devoid of spirituality? These and many other questions will be aired – it will be fascinating!

Concert with the LOROS Singers followed by a buffet supper takes place on Friday, 2nd November 2012, at 7.30 p.m. at the Old Grammar School, Kibworth Beauchamp.  Christmas cards and gifts will also be on sale.  Tickets £12 from Fran Brown (259 3184).

The Bishop's Lay Congress 2012 takes place on Saturday, 17th November from 9.30 a.m. until 3.45 p.m. at the Samworth Enterprise Academy, Trenant Road, Leicester, LE2 6UA.  It is entitled "God's Economy ....?  Christian approaches to the common good".  What might Christian perspectives and values contribute to building something better. 

The All Soul's Service takes place this year on Friday, 2nd November, at 7.30 p.m. at St Cuthbert's Church.  This is a very gentle service for those who have been bereaved and for the remembrance of loved ones.

Hope Against Cancer - A performance of Fauré's 'Requiem' with choir and soloists directed by Dr Christopher Johns will take place on the 4th November at 4 p.m. in Leicester Cathedral.  No tickets are required but there will be a retiring collection in aid of Hope Against Cancer.  All welcome!

Humour is a gift – "The Grim Reaper came for me last night, but I beat him off with a vacuum cleaner.  Talk about Dyson with death".

Children during the 10.30 a.m. Communion Services - There are bible quizzes, colouring pictures, bible stories, etc available in a children's area in the north aisle (whether at Glen or Burton).  We hope that all children will come to the altar with their families to receive a blessing (or communion if they normally receive this).


Hearing Loop – St Andrew’s Church at Burton Overy has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system.  If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.
