If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.   Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

Sunday Breakfast TODAY in St Cuthbert's Church after the 8.30 a.m. service.  This will also be on the third Sunday in December, i.e. the 16th December, at 9.15 a.m.  Do join us for croissants, toast and home-made marmalade and jam!


We would like to thank all the people who helped with the recent school visit to St Cuthbert's Church and also all those who helped in any way with the Remembrance Sunday services.  Your assistance is much appreciated.

Advent Service of Light - This lovely candlelit service will be held on Advent Sunday, 2nd December, at St Cuthbert's Church at 6.30 p.m. This is a service of Advent music and readings and will be led by the Choir.  Do come and bring your friends.

 
The Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival Christmas Carols is on Sunday, 2nd December, at 6.30 p.m. in St Andrew's Church and will feature The Spectaculars Community Choir.

Christmas Concert at St Andrew's - On Tuesday, 18th December, at 7.30 p.m. Mosaic, a choir of eight voices, will be singing beautiful carols from six c centuries, Renaissance, Polyphony, Christmas Spirituals, German, Spanish, Italian, English Carols;  classical and modern settings.  All proceeds to Death Watch Beetle Fund.  Tickets (to include a glass of wine and canapés) £8.  Available from Robert Brown (259 3184).

 
Cards for Good Causes - The multi-charity Christmas card shop is now open at Leicester Cathedral - Mondays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. until
4 p.m.  At least 75p in every pound goes to the charity - unlike charity cards sold in shops where only a few pence goes to the charity.  The shop is open until the 15th December.


 
St Philip's Centre Open Day is on Friday, 23rd November from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 2A Stoughton Drive North (off Evington Road, LE5 5UB) - Talk to the staff, watch a presentation and see what they do.

 
Christians Aware Advent Fayre on 28th November 2012 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Christchurch, Clarendon Park Road, Leicester.  Coffee and tea available from 10.30 a.m., lunches from 12 noon.  Stalls include new and second-hand books, Christmas cards, Traidcaft, cakes, coffee, bric a brac and much more.

 Women Bishops: Leicester Cathedral will be open and available for prayer, reflection and conversation at 7.30pm on Friday, 23rd November. Bishop Tim will be present as people share their reactions, hopes and commend the whole Church into God’s hands for the future.  The Cathedral will also be open 8.30am to 6.15pm on Tuesday 20 November during the General Synod debate with a prayer station assigned in the Great South Aisle. 

 Holy Land Pilgrimage - Bishop Tim  is pleased to announce that he will be leading a diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land in the autumn of 2013 (29th October to 7th November inclusive).  Although the cost is high (around £1,600.) he wants to encourage as many people as possible to travel with him and therefore he is looking at ways of helping those not able to afford the cost to travel.  If cost will be an influencing factor for yourself or someone you identify, please do get in  touch in the first instance with the Revd Kevin Ashby who is co-ordinating the trip at The Rectory, 57 Burton Road, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1DL on 01664 410 393 or email kevinashby@meltonparish.org.uk
