At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.   Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

Sunday Breakfast in St Cuthbert's Church will take place on the third Sundays in November and December, i.e. the 18th November and 16th December, at 9.15 a.m.  Do join us for croissants, toast and home-made marmalade and jam!

 Messy Church – the next session is on Wednesday 14th November, 3.30-4.30pm in the Art Room at St. Cuthbert’s Primary School.  The children listen to a bible story while they enjoy a drink, biscuits and fruit and then get messy (covered by an overall) doing some art work to illustrate the story!  We have a short time of prayer and singing as well.  Do bring your children and come and join us – it’s fun!

Timeout will take place on Saturday 17th November, 4-6pm. – this is a time for young families to enjoy each other’s company while we provide board games and toys for their children.  We have a short time of prayer for people’s concerns before we eat.  Venue tba – tel Vicar 259 2238

Midweek Holy Communion will take place at 11.30am after Drop-In on Thursday 15th November – 3rd Thursday again instead of 2nd Thursday due to the Vicar’s commitments.  All welcome to this lovely half-hour service.

Bible Study House Group meets on Tuesday, 6th November at 7.30pm at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy, when we will be watching Pasolini's film of St Matthew's Gospel.  If you have not joined us before, you are most welcome to come and watch the film.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Leicester – see him and hear him for yourself!!  Wednesday 14th November . Public Faith in a Secular Age. The Provost Derek Hole Annual Lecture 2012 given by Archbishop Desmond Tutu Former Archbishop of Cape Town • 5.30pm – 6.30pm. Peter Williams Lecture Theatre, Fielding Johnson Building South Wing. Admission is free but by ticket only. The Bishop's Lay Congress 2012 takes place on Saturday, 17th November from 9.30 a.m. until 3.45 p.m. at the Samworth Enterprise Academy, Trenant Road, Leicester, LE2 6UA.  It is entitled "God's Economy ....?  Christian approaches to the common good".  With crises in the global economy and financial markets, recession in the UK and questions being raised about the way businesses and banks are operating, what's to be done?  What might Christian perspectives and values contribute to building something better and what needs to change in our ways or organising our economic, political and social life to develop greater well being for individuals, communities and nations.  To book, pick up a leaflet from church or send an email with your full name, postal address and the name of the church you attend together with your choice of small seminar to MMbookings@leccofe.org or tel 261 5317.

Choir Concert in aid of Leicester Street Pastors at St Catharine's Church, Main Street, Houghton-on-the-Hill, LE7 9GD  7:30pm Variety of styles of choral music  with something for everyone. Sung by Cantamici Choir. Proceeds in aid of Leicester City Centre Street Pastors. Humour is a giftMy daughter asked me for a pet spider for her birthday, so I went to our local pet shop and they were £70! "Blow this," I thought, "I can get one cheaper off the web."

Hearing Loop – St Andrew’s Church at Burton Overy has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system.  If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.
