If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

Sunday Breakfast will be served in St Cuthbert's Church at about 9.15 a.m. - do come and join us today or on any other second Sunday in the month.

Ash Wednesday - The Communion Service is a particularly special one on Ash Wednesday with its own particular atmosphere of reflection. If you've never been, why not come and see what it's like.

Lent Course - This year's Lent Course will take place at 7.30 p.m. on five Wednesdays from 20th February to 20th March at GlenMethodist Church. DO COME even if you can't attend all the sessions!

Death Watch Beetle at BurtonOvery - The good news is that English Heritage have promised a maximum grant of £42,000. towards the roof repairs to St Andrew's Church at Burton Overy. The not so good news is that we now have to raise the balance of the total repairs estimated at just over £108,000. The church has reserves in the building fund and an appeal is to be launched for £46,000. Please consider if you are able to help in any way.

New Churchwardens will be needed for St Cuthbert's Church after Easter to take over from David who has served us so well. Please can everyone think and pray about this matter . Two churchwardens are really needed to steer the church through the interregnum but they must not be expected to do all the work. Please can you consider seriously how you may be able to do your bit to help run St Cuthbert's Church in the coming months.

Treasurer - Arthur Whitfield has offered to manage the day to day finances (banking, paying bills, etc) and Jane Parkinson has agreed to continue to produce quarterly accounts for the church. We are enormously grateful to them both for doing this essential task for St Cuthbert's church.

Renewal of Church Electoral Rolls - Every six years, each parish church has to compile and publish a completely new version of its Electoral Roll. Everyone who wishes their name to appear on the new roll must complete a fresh application form - even though their name may already appear on the current roll, which in April 2013 will no longer be valid. Application forms may be found inside St Andrew's and St Cuthbert's, near the entrances. People wishing to be on the new joint roll for Burton Overy and Carlton Curlieu should return their completed forms to Richard Bloor by 21st March. Completed application forms for Great Glen should be returned to Roger Hickling by 27th March. Why apply to be on your parish church's Electoral Roll? It will entitle you to attend your church's Annual Meeting and vote for your new PCC and your parish's representatives on the deanery synod. Any person entitled to attend the Annual Meeting may raise any question of parochial or general church interest. The Annual Meeting for Burton Overy/Carlton Curlieu is on Thursday evening, 18th April, and the Annual Meeting for Great Glen is on Wednesday evening, 24th April.

St Cuthbert's Church Fete -The PCC have decided to hold a church fete on Saturday, 1st June, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. The fete organisers this year are David Graves (271 4420), David Webster (259 3717) and Roger Flowers (0776 879 4662). They would be grateful for any good ideas and offers of help.

Church cleaning at St Cuthbert's– Thank you to those who have put their names down on the cleaning rota. However there are still many gaps that need to be filled. PLEASE can you all consider offering to clean the church, even if it's only once or twice a year. The list is at the back of church for you to choose which date(s) you can do. See previous notice for further details or contact Amy Cook (259 2610).

Sound System and Hearing Loop for St Cuthbert's Church - THANK YOU to everyone who has made a donation - we are enormously grateful to you. If anyone still intends to contribute, the fund is still open - just send the money (cheques payable to St Cuthbert's PCC) to the Vicar who will then pass it all on to the Treasurer (gift-aided if possible).

Hear Justin Welby -Mary went with her daughter, Alice, to hear the new Archbishop-of Canterbury, Justin Welby, speak at her Nottinghamchurch recently. You can hear or watch it all if you go onto the church website www.trentvineyard.org and click on the Media tab.

Humour is a gift – Written by an NHS medical secretary: "The patient is tearful and crying constantly. She also appears to be depressed."

Please pray:-

· For Roger Harris, Phyllis Stanley, Richard Shepherd, Laura Record, John Spencer, Myra Humphrey, Judith Buffrey’s grandson Joel, and all who are ill.
· For the family and friends of Peter L'homme whose funeral took place last week.
· For the couples preparing to get married in our churches this year.
· For those of us dealing with grief and loss.
· For a resolution to the troubles in war-torn parts of our world.
