At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

Messy Church - The next Messy Church takes place at St Cuthbert's Primary School on Monday 9th June from 3.30 p.m. until 4.30 p.m.  Messy Church is for children up to 11 years of age with their parents or carers.

Drop-In at St Cuthbert's Church takes place on the first Thursday of each month at 10.30 a.m.  Do come along and join us for a cup of coffee and a chat.  The June coffee morning (5 June) will not take place because of the funeral of Graham Weston.  Amy Cook is unable to organise the July Coffee Morning (3 July). Is there anyone else who can do so, please? If there is, could they please advise Amy as soon as possible?

Summer Barbecue - David and Kate Alexander have offered their garden to be used for a summer barbecue to raise funds for St Cuthbert's Church.  David Webster is currently trying to find someone to actually do the cooking but we will need volunteers to help leading up to the event and actually on the day.  Would anyone who is happy to help, please give their name to David Webster or Roger Flowers.

The Benefice Prayer Group will continue to meet on Wednesday mornings to pray for the people and issues in our churches, villages and the wider world.  There is a Prayer Request Box at the back of St Cuthbert’s Church – please do use it and encourage everyone to use it whether they share our faith and our church-going habits or not!

New lights will be fitted in the Church during the next few weeks and at the same time it is hoped that the outside flood lights will be repaired.

St Cuthbert - A Booklet about his life has been placed at the back of the Church for perusal.  It would be appreciated if it was not taken away to read.

Cathedral launches new King Richard III website - Leicester Cathedral has launched a new website www.kingrichardinleicester.com telling the story of King Richard III and his 500 year place in Leicester's history. The Bishop and Dean of Leicester state their passionate desire to see that the mortal remains of the King are treated with dignity and honour and are re-buried as soon as possible in the city where he has belonged since his death.  The website is a resource for the facts about Richard III and Leicester and includes a short video, facts and fiction about the story and demonstrates the partnership within which the Cathedral is working.

Come and hear the vision for the council commissioned artwork in Cathedral Gardens. Hear the artists in person at the big diocesan festival/funday/opening of Cathedral Gardens and faith sharing day on Saturday 5th July.  Suitable for all ages, there’s more about the day here: www.leicester.anglican.org/garden-of-life The official opening is at midday and the festivities culminate in a simple service of open air baptism followed by free hot dogs (finishing at 6pm). It’s all free and everyone is welcome to come for some or all of the afternoon.

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.  Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.

Events at Launde Abbey this year include Pudding Nights and Steak Nights, as well as a variety of musical events throughout the summer and autumn and the restaurant is open daily for lunches, snacks and afternoon teas. Please call the General Office on 01572 717254 for more information or visit the website http://www.laundeabbey.org.uk.
