 At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

100th BIRTHDAY on Monday 27th July, Harry Galley (known to many as Gal) will be celebrating his 100th Birthday.  Harry, along with his late wife Una, had been regulars at the 8.30 service for many, many years, until during the last couple when Harry has not always been well enough to attend.  In recent months Harry has been in hospital and is at present now living at Kibworth Court.  His only relative, a niece, lives in New Zealand and has been visiting Harry for a few weeks to assist in organising his move and a small party to be held on Monday between 2pm and 4pm before she returns home.  A truly lovely gentleman.  Perhaps you would think of Harry in your prayers and on his special day.

SUNDAY AUGUST 23RD 10.00AM JOINT EUCHARIST AT ST PETER’S OADBY  On Sunday August 23rd St Paul’s, St Peter’s, St Cuthbert’s Great Glen, and St Andrew’s Burton Overy and St Mary the Virgin, Carlton Curlieu will be coming together for a joint service at St Peter’s Oadby.  This is something that as an emerging new Team Ministry we will be doing very occasionally.  It is a great opportunity for us to come together to celebrate what God is doing both in and beyond our local church.  The mission of God is bigger than anything we can imagine.  It is helpful from time to time to have our horizons broadened.  So please come along and enjoy worshipping God and proclaiming our Christian faith together.  Parking will be available at the back of Adkinson’s Funeral Directors or in the Oadby town car parks. We look forward to welcoming you.  Michael, Steve, Kim, and Gillian.

VOICES FOR JOINT PARISH SERVICE AT ST PETER'S, 23RD AUGUST  On Sunday 23rd August to enhance the worship we will be forming a choir of voices from each church.  If you would like to be a part of this, we will be practising on Wednesday 19th August at 7pm at St Peter’s.  We will also have a short practice before the 10am service on the 23rd at 9.20am. Please do consider being a part of this, even if you don't regularly sing in your choir/music group.  For more information and to sign up, please contact Emily (Director of Music at St Peter's) by email to emilyjw23@yahoo.co.uk, or by phone on 07525 329595, or through the St Peter's parish office - 0116 272 0080.  Or just turn up to the practice! Thank you. Emily

TABLE TOP SALE - We are looking to do a table top sale on Saturday August 29th for a maximum of fifteen tables in the front garden of the Vicarage.  Each table will be £10.00; any profit from what you sell you may keep.  It is a good way in which to sell unwanted items no longer needed and raise funds for our Church.  Please contact David Graves on 01162714420 if you would like to book a table.

HOPE AGAINST CANCER  - Tracey Gregson of Burton Overy is taking part in the 2015 cycle challenge Geneva to Milan - 360 miles in 4 days, but more demanding than the distance is an ascent of 17,000ft!  If you wish to sponsor Tracey, please visit her giving page  uk.virginmoneygiving.com

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.  Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.

LIFTS TO SERVICES – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.

KEEPING PEOPLE IN TOUCH – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment.
