At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

GIFT ENVELOPES.- Some people like to make a regular donation to St. Cuthbert's Church through a weekly envelope scheme.  For those already using this method the envelopes for the year beginning Sunday September 6th are now in church for you to collect.  If anyone else would like to support the church in this way please get in touch with Amy Cook for a set of envelopes.  If you are able and willing to Gift Aid your donation she can also provide a form for you to sign declaring your intent.

BIBLE READING NOTES - Please pick up your next copy of Bible Reading notes, starting from September, from the back of the Church.

JOINT EUCHARIST AT ST PETER’S OADBY on Sunday August 23rd at 10am St Paul’s, St Peter’s, St Cuthbert’s Great Glen, St Andrew’s Burton Overy and St Mary the Virgin, Carlton Curlieu will be coming together for a joint service at St Peter’s Oadby.  This is something that as an emerging new Team Ministry we will be doing very occasionally.  Parking will be available at the back of Adkinson’s Funeral Directors or in the Oadby town car parks.

TABLE TOP SALE - We are looking to do a table top sale on Saturday August 29th for a maximum of fifteen tables in the front garden of the Vicarage.  Each table will be £10.00; any profit from what you sell you may keep.  It is a good way in which to sell unwanted items no longer needed and raise funds for our Church.  Please contact David Graves on 01162714420 if you would like to book a table.  If you have any bric-a-brac, DVDs, books, etc and don't feel like having your own table the church will be having a table or two at the sale.  All proceeds from the sale of items will go towards money needed for our new noticeboard near the road.

THE NEXT LADIES NIGHT OUT SOCIAL has been arranged for the evening of Wednesday 2nd September. We will be going to the Yews in Great Glen this time and meet there at 7.15pm. If interested please contact Carole Henson hensonc@talk21.com or 0116 2403368 asap so that she can book a table!

WHEELBARROW RACE - September 5th is the annual wheelbarrow race in the village and this year the church is having a table at the event. We need your help! We need cakes, biscuits or any type of sellable sweets. I am hoping that we can set up a little sitting area for tea and cakes. It would also be good to have volunteers to help on the day with the selling and making tea/coffee. If you can do either please have a word with Kim and there will be a sign up sheet in the back of the church.

RIDE & STRIDE this year will be on Saturday 12th September 10.00 am until 6.00 pm and Carol Neal is looking for help in greeting visitors to our village church by offering refreshments (these will be provided) and recording their arrival on the relevant form.  If you would like to help there will be a rota on the table at the back of the church to sign your name and the time you are able to cover.  It makes for an enjoyable hour, meeting new people and having a chat.  If you bring a friend to join you, all the better.  Any questions please phone Carol Neal on 2592988. Many thanks.

GREAT GLEN W.I. would like to invite you to join members in celebrating 100 Years with a Cream Tea to be held at the Methodist Church Hall Sunday 13th September 2.00 - 5.00. We shall have a few stalls plus a chance to meet some of our members, enabling you to see what sort of organisation we are in 2015. We hope you can join us in celebrating the past 100 years, and still looking forward to the future. Please contact me, Carol Neal, on 2592988 for any further information.
