At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

AGM FOR ST CUTHBERT'S 24th APRIL  We will be having a Songs of Praise service, followed by the AGM and PCC meeting and to finish off the evening we will be having cheese and crackers, and a chat about our vision for the future, so please mark the date!   Everyone is entitled to vote for the churchwardens, but to vote on any other matters or to be a member of the PCC, or a sidesman you need to be on the electoral roll  If you are not already on the roll but would like to be added to it please ask for an application form from Richard Bloor or Amy Cook ( acting on behalf of Roger Hickling.)  Forms should be handed in by 10th April.  The AGM For St Andrew’s is on 21st April at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.

MOSAIC are performing at St Andrews on Sat 16th April at 7.30pm. The evening is entitled “The Food of Love” and will feature settings of Shakespeare by Lindgren, Paterson, Vaughan Williams, Mantyjaarvi and Rutter along with arrangements of folk songs, jazz standards, spirituals and other beautiful music for unaccompanied voices. Everyone is welcome.  Tickets are £8.00 per head and are available from Helen Egerton (07540 227560 ) or Robert Brown (2593184).  All profits to Alzheimer’s Society.

LADIES NIGHT OUT EVENINGS, Just a reminder that the next Ladies Night Out is on Wednesday 27th  April, at 7.30pm. BURTON OVERY FRIENDSHIP CLUB  will- meet at 10.30 am on Thursday 14th April at the home of Mary Parker, The Sallows, Elms Lane.   A cup of tea or coffee, a bring and buy stall and a friendly chat await you!  

THE "WELCOME GROUP" say thank you for our continued support of their  work. They really appreciate our regular donations of non-perishable  food items and are especially grateful for items such as the many variaties of dried or tinned beans and pulses such as red kidney beans.

SCHOOL FARM VISITS   Children from Uplands School in Leicester will be visiting Craig and Nicola Langton's farm on Tuesday and Thursday 12th and 14th April.   Last year's harvest collection at Burton Overy will pay for the transport to bring about 120 children from the inner city to experience life on a farm, feeding lambs, collecting eggs, learning about bees and walking over fields - they love it!

CALL TO PRAYER The Archbishops have written to every serving parish priest in the Church of England expressing their longing “to see a great wave of prayer across our land, throughout the Church of England and many other Churches” from 8th-15th May.  If you have any ideas or thoughts of what we can do to rise to the challenge please let me know  .The week of prayer will culminate in ‘Beacon events’ around the country over Pentecost weekend, where people will pray for the renewal of the Holy Spirit and the confidence to share their faith.  You can visit the website thykingdom.co.uk to see what it is all about.  Kim

TIME OF QUIET PRAYER AND MEDITATION, 11th May 3.30 to 4.30pm. at 20, Kingfisher Close. This is a  focus for the call to national prayer from Archbishop Julian  Welby during the week before Pentecost /Whit Sunday.  For more information ,contact Christine  Higgins  on 259 2524 or chrisples@btinternet.com    Otherwise please just come along.
