If you are
a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to
receive the bread and wine. Otherwise
you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a
blessing. Keeping your hands down by
your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the
Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a
sidesman.

NOTICES
VISIT TO TANZANIA Kim will be off
to Tanzania on 4th July and we all wish her Bon Voyage. If any urgent matters arise whilst she is
away please contact Roger Flowers (07768794662) or David Webster (Church
Warden) on 0116 2593717.
THANK YOU to all who gave through the
offerings these last few weeks. Between Burton Overy and Great Glen we raised £655 for Derada, (which if
we can gift aid it will make £755), and I know this
will make a huge difference to their vision for building a new church and
community centre. I look forward to sharing with you pictures and stories
when I return from Tanzania. Kim
TODDLER CAFE will be open
twice in the summer on the 2nd and 24th August from 10:00 am to 11:30 am for
play and coffee. If you know anyone with little ones please let them
know.
VISIT TO THE HOLY LAND Have you ever
wanted to visit the Holy Land? Well, we are looking at the possibility of
taking a Lenten pilgrimage, including a fully guided tour with Canon
Philip Norwood, for 10 days from March 14th-23rd 2017. The cost will be
£1745 which will include flights, hotels, tours, entries to attractions
and full board (this is based on 2 people sharing a room - there is a supplement
for a single room). The only extra cost would be travel insurance. There are leaflets
available for anyone who is interested. If you are interested please
come and have a chat with either Kim or Bert Patrick.
LADIES NIGHT OUT on Wednesday 27th July will be at the Grange Farm, Oadby.
There will be no meeting in August. The venue for 21st September will be announced
nearer the time. This is a friendly group of ladies, who enjoy having a meal
together, so if you are interested, or have any enquiry please contact Helen
Dartnall (0116 2404917) as Carole Henson will be on holiday.
GOOD
NEWS Kit Burrows’ health is now improving and he
wishes to pass on his appreciation to all the churchgoers for their concern and
prayers.
REPAIRS TO KITCHEN
FLOOR The cause
of the problem was rising damp rotting the wooden floor boards. The state of the floor was dangerous and you
will see that the concrete base has been left exposed to dry out. The DAC have advised that the Church
Architect is to be consulted to give guidance as to what kind of floor
covering, which must be breathable, has to be put down. The kitchen can still be used but with care.
GREETINGS CARDS
Please do have a look at the cards in church which are for sale. There are several new ones. Mother’s Union cards are priced at cost and
that money goes towards funding Mother’s Union projects around the world. There
are other cards in a separate box which are either handmade or from redundant
stock for which we would appreciate a voluntary donation for church funds.
WHY NOT PUT AN EXTRA CAN OR PACKET in your
shopping basket to bring to church services.
St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity. Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, beans such as red kidney beans or bortoli beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.
Please pray for:-
·
Margaret Bannister, Christine Higgins, Will Johnston,
Elizabeth
Tacey, Martin Tacey, and all who are
ill.
·
John Kelly &
Vanessa Parr and Daniel Reece & Georgina Gilbert who are to be married in
July
·
the victims of the Istanbul Airport attack, their
families and friends
·
the people in
Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza, and all other places of conflict in the world,
that peace may return
