At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

CONGRATULATIONS to Bishop Tim who has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

CHURCH FETE   We want to thank everyone for their help with the fete last Saturday. Thank you to the team who organised the event, to Lyn and her team for providing the ploughman's lunch, for the Flower Ladies who made the church look so beautiful, for those who put up gazebo's and ran stalls and for all of those who brought things and bought things. It was a great day with a good steady stream of people in the vicarage garden and the church. We were able to raise over £900 which will go to church funds with a percentage going to Tanzania. Thank you again for all of your support!

CHURCH FETE FLOWERS:  Thanks very much to those who gave a donation towards the cost of the flowers.

LADIES’ NIGHT OUT will be on Wednesday 29th June and we will be going to the Crown, Tur Langton, for 7.30pm. The next date is July 27th. There will not be a LNO during August, but we will resume in September – date will be decided nearer the time. So if you are interested in coming for a meal out with a good time of fellowship please let me know, or if you have any enquiries. Carole Henson hensonc@talk21.com 0116 2403368

TIME OF QUIET PRAYER AND MEDITATION, There will be  no meetings  in June,  July or August.  We shall  start  again  on September 7th.  However, there  is a QUIET  GARDENS  event at Smeeton  Westerby on June 29th (10am – 4pm).  If you  are  interested,  please contact  Christine  Higgins (259 2624 or chrisples@btinternet.com ) for more  information.

PORK SUPPER:  2 July.   We hope that our friends in Burton Overy and Carlton Curlieu will join us on this occasion.  Tickets are now available and will be on sale after the Sunday services at Great Glen, or please contact Roger (07768794662) or Carol Neal (2592988).   Also, there is a list at the back of the church for anyone to put their name down to make a salad or pudding for the supper.

BIBLE STUDY HOUSE GROUP will meet on Tuesday 5th July 7.30 at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy

TANZANIA- As many of you know I will be leading a trip with Michael Broadley to Tanzania from the 4th to 19th  July.   There are a few things I would like to get you involved in as a benefice.  First is prayer, there are 13 of us going and the schedule will be quite busy as we seek to establish more links throughout the diocese, including the church in Derada and the church school in Arusha. That will mean long journeys in old Land Rovers over rough terrain.  I am on Facebook so if you would like to get updates while we are there please send me a friend request.  Second we would like to take up an offering to go towards the church in Derada, which is the same church we raised money for at Christmas.  Bishop Stanley during his visit told me it cost £4,000 to build a church which includes a small home for the pastor. We would like to add to the £900 already raised so we will be taking offerings over the next couple of weeks.  I will be visiting Derada and will bring back lots of pictures!  Lastly I would like to take gifts to the people we will meet while there. They are football mad so if anyone has a football shirt/tshirts/scarfs they no longer wear that would be great or silk scarfs/perfume/unwanted box sets of soap/shower gel for the women, (I have lots of toys for the children already). Thank you for helping us support this partnership in Tanzania. Blessings, Kim
Please pray for:-

  • ·         Margaret Bannister, Kit Burrows, Christine Higgins, Will Johnston, Elizabeth Tacey, Martin Tacey, and all who are ill.
  • ·         the husband, children, family, friends and colleagues of the MP Jo Cox so brutally murdered in West Yorkshire
  • ·         the souls of Judith Smith and Beryl Scott’s mother, their family and friends
  • ·         the people in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza, and all other places of conflict in the world, that peace may return
