news in the pews

Sunday 14th July – Fourth Sunday After Trinity

Collect for Today
Gracious Father,
by the obedience of Jesus
you brought salvation to our wayward world:
draw us into harmony with your will, that we may find all things restored in him,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Post Communion Prayer
Eternal God,
comfort of the afflicted and healer of the broken, you have fed us at the table of life and hope:
teach us the ways of gentleness and peace, that all the world may acknowledge the kingdom of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
through Jesus Christ our Saviour

Update on Roland and Amy,    dear congregation as most of you have heard Roland is in a coma in Budapest. We have now been told there is no more brain activity but he is still in a coma and on assisted breathing. Amy has returned home and Roland should come back to England in an air ambulance this coming week. Please pray that they will get him home soon so he can be with family. Amy doesn’t mind people stopping by if you would like to call in.

Bible Study House Group meets on Tuesday 16th July at 7.30pm at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy

St Cuthbert’s Theology Reading Group - Our St. Cuthbert’s Theology Reading Group invites anyone interested in exploring further their Christian faith/ knowledge, to join us at our monthly house meetings. We
decide on a recommended book, usually by eminent Christian authors, which we read (one or two chapters at a time) and discuss over several meetings. Our discussions are usually lively and informative with the Rev. Philip Norwood giving us an experienced, guiding hand.

Ladies Night Out Update:-
Christmas Luncheon at Launde.
Mo, Helen Dartnell and myself are offering to book another Carol Service and Meal at Launde Abbey for £19 per person.  We are offering 20 places on a first come, first served basis. Full payment either by cheque, or correct cash to Carole Henson. There needs to be a cut-off date (25th Aug), so as to book in with Launde and secure our places.  The meal is at 1pm and travel arrangements will be ongoing, but we are sure all those who want to go, will be able to!

Remember for July and August there will not be any Ladies Night Out.  We will resume on Wednesday 18th September at the new time of 7pm and we will meet at The Grange Farm Pub, Oadby.

Huge thank you to everyone who gave money towards the Bibles. I was able present them to the children on Friday at their leavers assembly. It is very special to give them the word of God as they leave primary school and go on to secondary school. Thank you again for your generosity.
