news in the pews

Sunday 1st September – Eleventh Sunday of Trinity

Collect for Today
God of glory,
the end of our searching,
help us to lay aside
all that prevents us from seeking your kingdom,
and to give all that we have
to gain the pearl beyond all price,
through our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Post Communion Prayer
Lord of all mercy,
we your faithful people have celebrated that one true sacrifice
which takes away our sins and brings pardon and peace:
by our communion
keep us firm on the foundation of the gospel
and preserve us from all sin;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

NOTICES

Ride & Stride - Saturday 14th September at All Churches
We can all help to raise some money for the church on this day.  Sponsor forms are now in all the churches for this event which is organised every year by the Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust.  Nearly every church door in Leicester and Leicestershire will be open on this day, including Great Glen, Burton Overy and Carlton Curlieu.  You can cycle ride or walk around as many churches as you like.  Please support the day in some way - cycling, walking, or manning our own churches and of course sponsoring any who are riding or striding. All money raised is shared  equally between the church of your choice and the Historic Churches Trust in Leicestershire which gives grants to churches to help with restoration costs

Ride and Stride Help
I am looking for people to 'meet and greet' all those who will be participating in this event. There is a list on the table for anyone to add their name who are able to sit in church for one hour, offer visitors a drink and biscuit (this will be provided) and sign their sponsor form.. Many thanks, Carol Neal.

Planned Giving
If anyone would like to make a regular weekly gift to the church through the weekly envelope scheme  (yellow envelopes ) I have a spare set for the year beginning September 1st available

A personal thank you from Kim: Dear All, Thank you so much for your continuing prayer as I await my surgery. I am sorry for the rolling coaster ride that ensued during this time of waiting and hoping. As far as I know the surgery is planned for Thursday morning around 9 am. If for some reason it does not happen again I will return and wait until it can be more certain.

In the meantime however I would like to ask you for specific prayers:
·       One that a high dependency bed will be available on Thursday (this was the reason for cancelling last time)
·       Two that as they remove the large growth and retracted the tubes that my windpipe will NOT collapse, which is their fear at this moment and the reason for the high dependency bed.
·       Three that it will happen this time so I can recover and get back to all that God is doing with us as a church family.
Thank you all for your love, care, prayers and patience during this time. Every blessing Kim
