Sunday 15th
December – Third Sunday of Advent
God
for whom we watch and wait,
you
sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of your Son:
give
us courage to speak the truth,
to
hunger for justice,
and
to suffer for the cause of right,
with
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Post
Communion Prayer
We
give you thanks, O Lord, for these heavenly gifts;
kindle
in us the fire of your Spirit
that
when your Christ comes again
we
may shine as lights before his face;
who
is alive and reigns now and for ever.

Advent Prayer Course on
Wednesday 18th Dec at 7:00 pm
The
course was set up by Pete Greig who was the founder of the 24/7 prayer
movement. There are 8 sessions and during the four evenings we will do two each
time. The sessions include 1.Why pray, 2.Adoration, 3.Petition, 4.Intercession,
5.Unanswered prayer, 6.Contemplation, 7.Listening and 8.Spiritual Warfare.
These are sessions to help us go deeper into our understanding of prayer and
how it can give us the tools to pray effectively. The last session will be held
on a Wednesday as to avoid clashing with Carlton Curlieu’s Carol Service. We
hope you can join us as we seek to deeper in our understanding. If you would
like more details please contact Sarah (her details are on the front of the
news sheet).
Alternatively there will be a weekly
afternoon prayer course
as well, if you would like to do that instead please contact Rev’d Sarah

ALPHA
Course starting in January.
We will be running an Alpha course. This is a 10-week
course each evening starts with fellowship around a hot meal and then goes into
a talk about who God is and what the Christian faith is all about. It takes
time to delve into the big questions people ask and helps us
to discover new understanding. After the talk we will break up into smaller
groups with a group leader and discuss the questions the talk has raised in a
smaller setting.
If you are interested in either coming or helping in
this course please talk to Kim or Sarah about how to come or how to be
involved.
