News in the Pews

Sunday 12th January – Second Sunday of Epiphany

Collect for Today
Eternal Lord,
our beginning and our end:
bring us with the whole creation
to your glory, hidden through past ages
and made known
in Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen

Post Communion Prayer
God of glory,
you nourish us with your Word
who is the bread of life:
fill us with your Holy Spirit

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen

ALPHA Course starting in January.
I want to thank all of you who have shown interest in the Alpha course, unfortunately we don’t have enough people to initiate the course at this time. However, we just need to postpone it until after Easter. This will give us time to do a bit more advertising and get the word out so we can get a larger group of people. I do apologise to those who did sign up, from experience I find Alpha more impactful when there is a good group of people. So I hope you can wait just a couple of months and join us again. Please do spread the word and hopefully we can get a group from the village and the church.
Due to a misunderstanding, the Methodists will be joining us at St Cuthbert’s for a 10:30 am service on the 19th January; we will not be going to the Methodist. Sorry for any confusion.

Time to Think About Holiday
Our thoughts begin to turn to holidays about this time of year.
For the last 2 years Bernard and I have stayed in a Christian  hotel at Grange in the Lakes. We have thoroughly  enjoyed it  and  would certainly recommend the hotel and location. Last year I joined a small group for a 3 day Art workshop whilst Bernard planned to explore the beautiful countryside on foot, by train and in the car. There's so much to do and I joined him in my spare time.
Food is delicious, staff so welcoming and lovely 'rooms with a view'.
There are a few  attractive  brochures at the back of the church to browse over coffee or why not take one home for more information. Get dreaming, planning  and booking !!
Contact Christine Higgins on 259 2624 for more details
