Sunday 2nd
February – Candlemas
Collect
for Today
Lord
Jesus Christ,
light
of the nations and glory of Israel:
make
your home among us,
and
present us pure and holy
to
your heavenly Father,
your
God, and our God.
Amen
Post
Communion Prayer
Lord,
you fulfilled the hope of Simeon and Anna, who lived to welcome the Messiah:
may
we, who have received these gifts beyond words, prepare to meet Christ Jesus
when he comes
to
bring us to eternal life;
for
he is alive and reigns, now and for ever.
Amen

Lent Course starting on Monday evening 24th Feb at 7:00
pm and Wednesday 26th Feb at 1:30 pm. We will be going through a study that goes with the movie the ‘Greatest
Showman.’ There are 5 weeks of studies but we will be starting a week early
with a bring and share dinner on the Monday and a bring and share lunch on the
Wednesday. On those days we will eat and watch the movie as a social but with
the idea that it will help us see the overall picture of the movies message
before we start the study. Monday nights will be held at Linda and Simon
Harwood’s house and the Wednesday’s at St Cuthbert’s.

Foundation School governor needed for St Cuthbert’s School. As a church we are asked to play a vital part
in the work of our local school as governors. We are looking for someone who
can give their time to work with the school to keep it accountable to the goals
it has set. Please have a chat with Kim if you would like to play a part in
this important role.
Quiet Prayer and
Meditation
This
group will now cease to meet till after Easter to give flexibility
for those who want to go to Lent groups.
Thank you again to
those who helped with the coffee morning! Selling the spare cakes after church
raised another £70 so we are able to give the total of £250 for the Community
of the Tree of Life! Thank you again
ALPHA Course starting
in April.

New Wine 2020, August 2nd – 6th Peterborough.
New Wine is a Christian camping site with great
teaching and music. The music and teaching takes place in huge tents on site.
There are groups for every child/teenager as well so the children will have a
great time to. It is a great experience to do together as a church, where we
can all camp together. You are able to opt in or out of the teachings as it
suits you. We need to book together as a church group so if you would like to
join us or would just like to find out more speak to Kim or Linda to learn more.
Time to Think About
Holiday
Our thoughts begin to turn to holidays about this
time of year.
For the last 2 years Bernard and I have stayed in a
Christian hotel at Grange in the Lakes. We have thoroughly enjoyed
it and would certainly recommend the hotel and location. Last year
I joined a small group for a 3 day Art workshop whilst Bernard planned to
explore the beautiful countryside on foot, by train and in the car.
There's so much to do and I joined him in my spare time.
Food is delicious, staff so welcoming and lovely
'rooms with a view'.
There are a few attractive brochures at
the back of the church to browse over coffee or why not take one home for more
information. Get dreaming, planning and booking !!
Contact Christine Higgins on 259 2624 for more
details.
Kim
will be away from the 6th to the 13th of February so if
you need any help during that time please get a hold of the Church Wardens or
Sarah.
