NOTICES

Concert for Piano and Clarinet takes place on Sunday, 4th November at 2.30 p.m.  To help raise the £50,000 needed to repair he roof of St Helen's Church, Saddington, there is a concert in the church.  It is a lovely programme for clarinet (played by Peter Cornish, an accomplished clarinet player, and piano played by well-known composer/pianist Francis Pott.  Saddington is a very small village community of only 75 households, so £50,000 is a huge sum for them to raise.  It would be lovely if you could support them by going to the concert or sending a donation.

The All Soul's Service takes place this year on Friday, 2nd November, at
7.30 p.m. at St Cuthbert's Church.  This is a very gentle service for those who have been bereaved and for the remembrance of loved ones.

Sunday Breakfast in St Cuthbert's Church will take place on the third Sundays in November and December, i.e. the 18th November and 16th December, at 9.15 a.m.  Do join us for croissants, toast and home-made marmalade and jam!

The 2020 Vision Road Show takes place on Tuesday, 30th October at St Dionysius, Market Harborough from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.  Bishop Tim will be coming along with other members of the Senior Staff team to present the outcome of the 2020 Vision process and what the implications are for the diocese and the Gartree deaneries.  The Bishop is very keen that as many people as possible from PCCs and DCCs and other interested people in our churches should come to this event

Opportunity to earn a little extra - Dr and Mrs George need someone to transport their children (aged 6 and 10) from Leicester Grammar Junior School to their home in Coverside Road at the end of each school day.  If you would like to discuss this with them, please contact Dr George on 07877 549421 or Mrs Marian George on 07886 400476 or on their landline 259 2140.

A Farewell Service will be held for the Very Revd Viv Faull, Dean of Leicester Cathedral, at 4 p.m. today.

The Bishop's Lay Congress 2012 takes place on Saturday, 17th November from 9.30 a.m. until 3.45 p.m. at the Samworth Enterprise Academy, Trenant Road, Leicester, LE2 6UA.  It is entitled "God's Economy ....?  Christian approaches to the common good".  With crises in the global economy and financial markets, recession in the UK and questions being raised about the way businesses and banks are operating, what's to be done?  What might Christian perspectives and values contribute to building something better and what needs to change in our ways or organising our economic, political and social life to develop greater well being for individuals, communities and nations.  To book, pick up a leaflet from church or send an email with your full name, postal address and the name of the church you attend together with your choice of small seminar to MMbookings@leccofe.org or tel 261 5317.

Concert with the LOROS Singers followed by a buffet supper takes place on Friday, 2nd November 2012, at 7.30 p.m. at the Old Grammar School, Kibworth Beauchamp.  Christmas cards and gifts will also be on sale.  Tickets £12 from Fran Brown (259 3184).

Hope Against Cancer - A performance of Fauré's 'Requiem' with choir and soloists directed by Dr Christopher Johns will take place on the 4th November at 4 p.m. in Leicester Cathedral.  No tickets are required but there will be a retiring collection in aid of Hope Against Cancer.  All welcome!  Please support this if you can as this charity has brought much cancer expertise to Leicester to our great benefit.

Humour is a gift – "I woke up last night to find the ghost of Gloria Gaynor standing at the foot of my bed.  At first I was afraid...then I was petrified".
