At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!  3rd September is the annual wheelbarrow race and we want to have a stand again this year. We would like to have a cake/biscuit stand as we did last year. I think it is a real opportunity to have a presence in local community. We will also be next to a group from Holy Trinity who want to set up a prayer tent, so we can do it together with cake and prayers. We need people will to bake cakes/biscuits and those willing to sell and talk to people on the day. Please talk to Kim if you can help (2592238).

PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND, 14-23 March 2017 all are very welcome.  Philip Norwood has a long history of taking groups to the Holy Land and will be guiding us on the journey.  We will journey through many of the places mentioned in the Bible in order to bring it alive and give us to a greater understanding of the context in which the word was written.  There are brochures or an article by Bert Patrick in the parish magazine to give you more details.  I have started planning the 10 days with Philip and I am really excited about this pilgrimage with special prayers and amazing places to share in the Eucharist.  I hope as many as possible can join us in this very special Lenten Journey.  Please talk to Kim tele: 259 2238 or Bert Patrick 259 3524 for more details.

THANK YOU for your prayers.   Isaac is now half way through his trip in India and has spent the last 4 days in the Lister Girls Home, painting and creating a garden for the orphans.  They are now journeying again to a different area to experience more of the culture there, visiting workers at a tea plantation. They should arrive back on the 11th August.  Please keep the group in your prayers for safety as they travel.

CAMBRIDGE CHOIR  The Alumni Choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge will be singing evensong at St Denys Church in Evington on Saturday 13th August at 3pm.  The evensong forms part of the Church's contribution to the popular Evington Fete and Show, an annual community event which takes place on the Village Green.  The Fete runs from 12 noon to 5pm, hosting many stalls and wonderful entertainment.  Teas will be served in the St Denys Parish Centre all afternoon.

RIDE AND STRIDE DAY - Saturday, 10th September  How about riding or striding about some of the churches in Leicestershire?  On this day over 400 church doors will be open in the city and county.  This annual sponsored event is organised by the Historic Churches Trust to raise money for the Trust and for churches to raise money for themselves!   Sponsorship forms are at the back of our churches.  How about a Parish Bike Ride or Walk?  If you are interested please speak to Anne Bloor - rabloor@gmail.com or 259-2440.

Carol Neal is looking for people to 'meet and greet' all those who will be participating in this event at St Cuthbert’s Chur. There is a list on the table at the back of church for anyone who is able to sit in church for one hour to offer them a drink and biscuit (this will be provided) and sign their sponsor form. Just add your name on the list if you feel you can help
