At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!  3rd September is the annual wheelbarrow race and we want to have a stand again this year.  We would like to have a cake/biscuit stand as we did last year.  I think it is a real opportunity to have a presence in local community.  We will also be next to a group from Holy Trinity who want to set up a prayer tent, so we can do it together with cake and prayers.  We need people will to bake cakes/biscuits and those willing to sell and talk to people on the day.  Please talk to Kim if you can help (2592238).

CHRISTMAS CARDS  The latest Mothers’ Union Catalogue is now in church with a selection of cards, books and gifts, including Christmas Cards (with samples for you to see), and Advent Calendars.  If you wish to place an order please fill in the details on the form provided before the end of September.  Payment will be due when the goods have been received.  100% of the profit from the sales will go to fund the work of the Mother’s Union.

MORE VOLUNTEERS are urgently required to make coffee following the 10.30 service at St Cuthbert’s Church.  If you could help, it would be appreciated if you would put your name on the form at the back of the Church

PORK SUPPER  The supper, kindly hosted by Kate and Dave Alexander, is on Saturday 17th September (6.0 pm for 6.30 pm) at 2 Stretton Road, Great Glen.  Tickets are available from Lyn and Roger Flowers (07768794662) or Carol Neal (2592988).  Adults £10, Children (under 12) £7.  Please come and enjoy a convivial evening with friends.

LADIES NIGHT OUT  This is a friendly group of ladies, who enjoy having a meal together, so if you are interested, or have any enquiries please contact Carole Henson hensonc@talk21.com or 0116 2403368.  The next dates are Wednesdays 21st September, and 12th October.  September venue will be The Old Crown at Tur Langton.  We have had a new volunteer to help with lifts, so if you would like a lift, please let me know.  October venue to be announced nearer the time.

KITCHEN FLOOR Our newly appointed Church Architect has visited St Cuthbert’s Church to advise on the replacement of the floor.  A Faculty is now being prepared for the DAC.  When the work commences the kitchen will be closed for three weeks to allow for the new base and tile mortar to dry and settle.  Please exercise caution on entering and existing the kitchen until the work is completed.

RIDE AND STRIDE DAY - Saturday, 10th September  How about riding or striding about some of the churches in Leicestershire?  On this day over 400 church doors will be open in the city and county.  This annual sponsored event is organised by the Historic Churches Trust to raise money for the Trust and for churches to raise money for themselves!   Sponsorship forms are at the back of our churches.  How about a Parish Bike Ride or Walk?  If you are interested please speak to Anne Bloor - rabloor@gmail.com or 259-2440.

Carol Neal is looking for people to 'meet and greet' all those who will be participating in this event at St Cuthbert’s Church. There is a list on the table at the back of church for anyone who is able to sit in church for one hour to offer them a drink and biscuit (this will be provided) and sign their sponsor form.  Just add your name on the list if you feel you can help
