At Communion Services
If you are a
communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive
the bread and wine. Otherwise you are
welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will
signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the
Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a
sidesman.

NOTICES
ARCHBISHOP TO VISIT DIOCESE OF
LEICESTER: Can I recommend that you pick up the summer
edition of the free “In Shape” magazine.
It gives details of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s intended three day
visit to Leicestershire in the Autumn (14th-16th
November). Also, Bishop Martyn asks the
question how are we enabling growth in our community? At the services on 16th July, the
Revd Kim outlined how we are aiming to do this by introducing an extra Sunday
service starting in October (see below).
We hope you will not be too inconvenienced by the changes but will
support this new venture with your prayers.
Amy
NEW SERVICE COMING IN THE BENEFICE. The
churchwardens and PCCs from all three churches have decided that, to make our
churches more accessible to the wider parish, we would like to announce a new
service. This service will start the second week in October as the first week
of October will be the launch day for the new service with a family Harvest at
St Cuthbert's (see magazine for more information). There will therefore be
slight changes to the timing of our services.
The 8:30 am will become the 8:00 am and the 10:30 will become the 10:45
am with the new services 9:15 am to 10:15 am. The new service will be more
informal liturgy with modern worship as well as a Sunday School. In order not
to segregate the two congregations it was decided that coffee would be from
10:15 to 10:40 in-between the services so that we could mix together. We hope
this new service will also bring new life and see God's kingdom shine through
in new ways. If you have any questions or concerns please discuss with Kim or
any of the churchwardens. We look forward towards God doing new things in our
midst.
ROAST PORK SUPPER: Saturday 5 August, 6.30 p.m. for 7.00 p.m. This will be held at the home of Kate and Dave Alexander.
On the menu will be mouth-watering slices of home-roasted pork and a selection
of salads and sweets. Tickets now
available from Lyn and Roger Flowers (07768 794662) Adults £10, children
£5. Proceeds to St Cuthbert’s Church
Funds.
QUIET PRAYER AND
MEDITATION: Wednesday 9th August, 3.30 - 4.30 at
20 Kingfisher Close. It is an opportunity for
some special moments of peace in a busy world.
Everyone is welcome to join us. We would love to see you.
LIFTS
TO SERVICES
If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259
3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange
one for you.
KEEPING
PEOPLE IN TOUCH Please do take
copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested,
especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment
WHY NOT put
an extra can or tin in your shopping basket to bring to church services. St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s
Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless
charity. No biscuits, cereals or any
other packet foods please as the mice are quite partial to these.
Please
pray for:
·
Mollie Alexander, Margaret
Bannister, Sue Burnham, Christine Higgins, Katherine, Mike and family, Elizabeth
Tacey, Martin Tacey, and all who are ill
·
the soul of Betty Moncur. We were sad to hear
the news of Betty's unexpected death. She
was a treasured member of our 10:30 am services and will be missed. We pray for her family in this most difficult
of times
·
James Clark and Hannah Baker, Daniel Baggott
and Penny Parrish who are to be married at St Cuthbert’s in the next few weeks.
·
Penelope Isla Richardson (Edge
and Kate's granddaughter) who will be baptised on the 6th of August
·
for the people of Coverack following
the flood which has so badly affected their village
·
the people in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza,
and all other places of conflict in the world, that peace may return.
