News in the pews

NEWS IN THE PEWS
Sunday 5th August – Tenth Sunday after Trinity

Collect for Today:
Lord of heaven and earth,
as Jesus taught his disciples to be persistent in prayer,
give us patience and courage never to lose hope,
but always to bring our prayers before you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Post Communion Prayer:
you have willed that the gate of mercy
should stand open for those who trust in you:
look upon us with your favour
that we who follow the path of your will
may never wander from the way of life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Congratulations to Sparklers
for raising £140.00 for Dr Barnardo’s in the Big Toddle. This is a national event in which toddler groups are asked to ‘toddle’ in aid of this worthy cause.  We toddled from the Methodist Church Hall to the Recreation Ground in Great Glen and had fun on the swings and roundabouts and ate cake!

The church wardens and I would like to thank Simon as he has come forward to take over the job of treasurer for St Cuthbert's PCC. Please pray for him as he takes on this new role.

 New Weekly Envelopes

Thank you to all those people who make a regular weekly donation to the church through the envelope scheme. It is such a help in our planning to know that we can rely on a weekly income in this way. The boxes of envelopes for existing participants for the next year beginning 2nd September will be ready for collection from church in August.
If you would like to join the envelope scheme or make a regular donation by direct debit please get in touch with Revd Kim, Carol Neal or myself. You will appreciate that our expenses for lighting, heating, maintenance work and getting the sceptic tank emptied regularly are increasing. Also, if we want to keep a full-time parish priest in our benefice we need to be able to make a payment toward their salary.
