At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

Kibworth Silver Band Concert at St Cuthbert’s Church at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, 6th February. Entrance is £8. payable on the door. Refreshments (for a donation) will be available during the interval. Please can everyone bring as many people as they can so we have a good church full – the band sounds wonderful in our church and it will be a very good evening.

Haiti Earthquake – There are a number of appeals for this which I’m sure many people are donating to. However, to make it easier for some people, we have put a bucket for donations at the back of St Cuthbert’s Church which we will send off to Christian Aid.

Bible Study House Group meets at The Springs, Carlton Lane Burton Overy at 7.30 p.m. At the moment, we are looking at Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. Do come along if you are interested.

Lent Course – This year, the Lent Course will be on Thursday evenings at the Methodist Church from 25th February to 25th March. We will not be following a course but offering individual sessions from 7.30 p.m. until
9 p.m. each week.

The Israel Trip being led by Revd Philip Norwood (4th – 14th May 2010) has some places still available. We had a really lovely trip last year – if you are interested in knowing more about it, contact Philip Norwood on 241 0255.

Exhibition of Wedding Gowns and Memorabilia Weekend on Saturday, 13th, and Sunday, 14th February, at St Crispin’s Church, Turnbull Drive Braunstone from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a Musical Concert on the Saturday at 7.30 p.m. (Admission £5.) – Telephone 0116 289 6451 or pay at the door.

Snowdrops are a winter spectacle at Launde Abbey – Visitors will be able to enjoy a Snowdrop Spectacular at Launde Abbey on Sunday, February 21st, and Monday, February 22nd, 2010 when the Abbey opens again for Afternoon Teas. Guests will be able to stroll through the gardens and wander through the magnificent display of snowdrops to be found in the wooded walk behind the beautiful Tudor/Elizabethan abbey near East Norton in Leicestershire. Afterwards everyone can relax awhile over homemade cakes and tea. The Abbey will be open from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on both days and refreshments will be served all afternoon. The cost is £3.50 per person, including afternoon tea and a family ticket is also available (2 adults and 2 children) for £12. – under 3s are free. Flower Demonstration at Leicester Cathedral – takes place on Tuesday, 16th March, 6.45 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. start. It is entitled ‘Spring Fling’ by National NAFAS Demonstrator, Andrew Lloyd. Ticket £8. including glass of wine from Anne Slyvester on 0116 273 4870 or Angela Duxbury on 0116 4434 242.

Open Gardens supporting Chalet Holiday Funds – On Sunday, 28th February from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. two gardens in Burbage will open their gates (National Garden Society) for Snowdrops and Hellebores in aid of the Mother’s Union Chalet Holidays. Refreshments will be sold. Details from Don and Mary Baker, 7 Hall Road, Burbage (01455 635 616) and Mr and Mrs Dawkins, 6 Denis Road. The gardens will be signposted National Garden Society.

Visit to Oberammergau – 18th to 25th August 2010 – A group from St Botolph’s Church, Shepshed are visiting Oberammergau. The cost is around £1,100. per person. If anyone is interested, please contact Michael Dunk on 01509 501939 or email Michael.dunk@talk21.com for details.

Lifts to Services – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.

Children during the 10.30 a.m. Communion Services are invited to move into the north aisle (whether at Glen or Burton) after the confession to engage with the day’s bible story in ways that they will appreciate. They rejoin their parents in the pews at The Peace.
