At Great Glen Harvest Festival is on the 10th October. There is an All-Age Service at 10.30 am. and a Harvest Lunch in church from 12.30 p.m. onwards. This year, we are having a bring-and-share lunch – everybody very welcome! There will also be a traditional Harvest Evensong Service at 6.30 pm so that during the day lots of people can enjoy the harvest decorations which are always so beautiful!

Salvation Army Band Concert – The Leicester South Salvation Army Band, under their conductor, John Broadhurst, will be giving a concert in St Cuthbert’s Church at 7 p.m. on Saturday, 9th October. The programme will offer a variety of musical styles with something to suit everyone’s taste and will last a little over two hours including an interval. Proceeds from the concert will be going to St Cuthbert’s Church. The cost will be £8. per adult and £2. per child. Refreshments will be provided for donations.

St. Cuthbert’s Church Building – the Ecclesiastical have agreed that for the moment (due to childish vandalism) the church can be left open during school hours – this means it will be locked at the weekend and during school holidays apart from when there is a service or other activities in the church. The church does not need to be locked when adults are present, eg. Cleaning, doing flowers etc. But please remember that while you are in the church both vestry doors must be LOCKED.

New Lighting has been installed in the north aisle of St. Cuthbert’s Church including two extra lights that are operated by a sensor that turns them on when anyone walks in through the north door (they stay on for 20 mins). The sensor and lights are controlled by the switch labelled ‘Altar Spot’ behind the north door – this must be switched OFF when the rest of the lights are put on, and switched back ON when everyone leaves the church after a service or other event.

From Attending to Belonging to Contributing – Bob Jackson (author of ‘Hope for the Church’) is coming to talk to us about how we can help people become a real part of our church on Wednesday, 13th October. The morning session is 9.30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at St Paul’s Church in Oadby and is repeated in a shorter form from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. at Emmanuel Church, Loughborough. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from someone with a national reputation for analysing what helps churches to grow! Please can a few people from each of our churches attend one of these sessions. To book a place, email barry.hill@leccofe.org or phone 0116 248 7435.

Kibworth Area on TV – A new six-session series presented by Michael Wood is on BBC 4 on Wednesday evenings at 9 p.m. and on BBC 2 from Sept 30th at 9pm. It’s called “Story of England” and, if you watch it closely, you might perhaps catch a glimpse of your vicar in a pink cardigan as her family house was built in 1500. Should be a fascinating series for Leicestershire people! It is being repeated quite a lot at various times (inc. on BBC HD).

Christ in the Centre 2011 Casting Workshop for those who might like to take part on Saturday 30th October 2010, 10 am to 1pm. at St Andrew’s Church, Jarrom Street, Leicester LE2 7DH (By the Leicester Royal Infirmary)We have an exciting script – now all we need is the Cast! Rehearsals will start in the New Year, but as last year, the intention is to cast the production and hand out scripts and rehearsal schedules. If you are interested contact Hilary Ayling: hilary.citc@gmail.com or 07963311210

Children during the 10.30 a.m. Communion Services are invited to move into the north aisle (whether at Glen or Burton) after the Gloria to engage with the day’s bible story in ways that they will appreciate. They rejoin their parents in the pews at The Peace.

“I thought it was for Catholics but there are lots of Christians here"

Please pray:-

· For Margaret Kirby, Tony and their family.
· · For Barak Obama’s efforts to create a resolution of the problems in the Middle East that is just and acceptable to the Israelis and the Palestinians.
· For those picking up the pieces and trying to rebuild after the recent devastating floods.
