All Souls Service is on Tuesday, 2nd November, at 7.30 p.m. at St Cuthbert’s Church. A gentle service for those who wish to remember the loved ones they have lost. During the service there is an opportunity to light a candle in their memory and the names of loved ones are read out during the service. Letters of invitation are sent out to all those who have been bereaved in the last two years, but all are very welcome.

Did you know that the church has a service of Thanksgiving for the Birth of a Child? This enables families to celebrate the birth of their child in a special way. We will be having a Thanksgiving within the 10.30 a.m. All-Age Service on Sunday, 21st November, and within the Christingle Service at 4 p.m. on 12th December, both at St Cuthbert’s Church.

Provost Derek Hole Annual Public Lecture takes place on Thursday, 28th October, at 5.30 p.m. at the Ken Edwards Building, Lecture Theatre 1. This lecture is open to all.

New Lighting in St Cuthbert’s Church includes two extra lights that are operated by a sensor that turns them on when anyone walks in through the north door (they stay on for 20 minutes). The sensor and lights are controlled by the switch labelled ‘Altar Spot’ behind the north door – this must be switched OFF when the rest of the lights are put on, and switched back ON when everyone leaves the church.

St. Cuthbert’s Church is only open during school hours so it will be closed during half-term week from Monday 18th October.

Please pray:-
· For all who are ill or suffering.
· For those in need.
· For those whose smile brightens our day.
· We give thanks for the safe rescue of the Chilean miners.
· For our government to make wise choices in the big decisions concerning both cutbacks and the organization of the NHS
· For the people in Hungary affected by the toxic sludge that flooded their valley.
