NOTICES
Candlemas Carol Service at St Wilfrid’s Church, Kibworth is on Sunday, 30th January at 6.30 p.m. Do come and enjoy this service – it is a carol service with a difference because its focus is on the story of Simeon and Anna and Jesus’ presentation in the temple as a baby. ‘Carols for Candlemas’ consists of 7 lovely musical items (ranging from the Renaissance to the Nunc Dimittis that was used as the theme tune to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), and 4 congregational hymns, interspersed by 7 wonderful readings.
The all-age choir numbers about 40 and is drawn from at least 6 parishes all over the Gartree Mission Partnership. The choir is in excellent voice - having been practising regularly since 5th January. There will be refreshments in the Church Hall after the service.
Meeting of Flower arrangers for St Cuthbert’s Church has been arranged for 16th February, 7.30 pm. at Stretton Hall Farm. Would anyone like to join the flower rota? Usually it’s only the two small arrangements behind the altar that need doing. If you might be able to help at any time, please ask PhyllisHallam (259 2205) anything you need to know.
General Synod Agenda – All are invited to St Martin’s House, 7 Peacock Lane, on Wednesday, 2nd February, at 12.30 p.m. for a discussion about the next General Synod Agenda. Drinks will be provided. You will however need to bring your own lunch.
Knitters required – Do you have any time over Friday lunchtimes to support a knitting club at St Cuthbert’s School with a view to enabling the children to learn the skill to knit a 6” square and help make a ‘patchwork pledge’ blanket? The aim is for a blanket to be produced that will be large enough to wrap a building! It will eventually be divided into numerous smaller blankets and distributed by Age Concern. Take a look at www.inspireleics/patchworkpledge to find out more. If you could help, contact Cee Martin (ceemartin1@aol.com) or the school (259 2764).
