NOTICES

The Benefice Prayer Group will continue to meet on Wednesday mornings to pray for the people and issues in our churches, villages and the wider world. There is a Prayer Request Box at the back of St Cuthbert’s Church – please do use it and encourage everyone to use it whether they share our faith and our church-going habits or not!

Vergers at St Cuthbert’s – We need a few more people who would be willing to act as verger at weddings and funerals on an occasional basis. If you can help or would like to know more about what is involved, please contact David Graves on 271 4420.

NIP during Mary’s sabbatical will be produced on a fortnightly basis rather than a weekly one to reduce the workload.

Tracing Ancestors – From time to time, the Vicar receives enquiries concerning former residents of these parishes. If anyone is interested in genealogical research, could they please contact Richard Bloor on 259 2440 or bloor@burtonovery.freeserve.co.uk

Prayer List – During Mary’s absence, could people contact either David Graves, Roger Flowers or Angela Allen with the names of anyone who is sick and needs to be visited and/or prayed for.

Would you like to work at “The Well” at Kibworth – It’s a joint outreach and social project run by St Wilfrid’s and Kibworth Methodist Church. Not very well paid but a real bit of mission work. To see more, go to http://ruralmissions.org.uk.User/DownloadAttachment.aspx?i=18862&k=4twuhbxmtm

General Synod on BBC Parliament – BBC Parliament plans to show the highlights of General Synod on Friday, 18th February at 9.30 a.m. It is possible it will be repeated at 6 p.m. on Friday, 25th February.

Leicestershire Chorale Concert – Rise up, my Love! Takes place at St Mary’s Church Lutterworth at 7.30 p.m. on the 26th February. The florid and evocative language of the Song of Songs has provided inspiration for composers over the centuries. Tickets on the door £10.

Fairtrade world bunting record attempt – St Mary’s, Sileby is taking up the challenge set from the Fairtrade Foundation to break the world record for the longest line of hand-made bunting and show support for cotton farmers in developing countries. They are holding a bunting party on 6th March as part of Fairtrade Fortnight. Packs of bunting can be ordered from the Fairtrade Foundation (£2.50 per pack of 22 triangles) and it simply needs people to be creative and decorate each flag to show their support for Fair Trade. Refreshments will be served. For more information see http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/show_off_your_label/add_your_bunting

Children during the 10.30 Communion Services are invited to move into the north aisle (whether at Glen or at Burton) after the confession to engage with the day’s bible story in ways that they will appreciate. They rejoin their parents in the pews at the Peace.

Hearing Loop – St Andrew’s Church at Burton Overy now has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system. If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.

Humour is a gift – Classroom Howlers:-
‘John Calvin Klein translated the bible into American so people of Geneva could read it.’

Lifts to Services – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.

Please pray:-
· For all who are ill or suffering.
· For the those who grieve loved ones
· For those alone on St Valentine’s Day.
· For a peaceful resolution to the ongoing problems in Egypt.
