NOTICES
Women’s Aid have sent us a letter thanking us for the wonderful toys and gifts we donated from the Christingle service. Thank you to all who contributed to this.

The YMCA have sent a letter thanking us for the food collected at the back of church at St Andrew’s in Burton Overy. Thank you to all who contributed.

Our grateful thanks to everyone who helped clean up St Cuthbert’s Church after the mess resulting from the recent cold spell and the many Christmas Service visitors. The cleaning entailed a lot of hard work!

The Christmas Tree Festival Profit amounted to £7,840 to be divided between St. Andrew’s Church, LOROS and Burton Overy Village Hall. St. Andrew’s will receive approximately £5,400. We are very grateful to Lizzie King, the organiser, and to everyone involved for their hard work in producing such a magnificent result.

Church Warden – Sadly Chris Otway has had to resign as churchwarden as she has increasingly found it impossible to cope with both a full-time job, a busy family and the demands of being churchwarden. She will still continue to be involved with the church and remain on the PCC. We would like to thank her very much indeed for the work she has done and continues to do for St Cuthbert’s. Before we consider asking anyone else to become churchwarden, we probably need to reconsider how we organise the running of St Cuthbert’s.

Church Cleaning – Volunteers are urgently needed to help with cleaning St. Cuthbert’s Church. Would anyone who is prepared to give up a little time, please add their name to the list at the back of the church. More help would be very much appreciated.

The Mission Partnership Candlemas Service takes place at St Wilfrid’s Church, Kibworth on Sunday, 30th January, at 6.30 p.m. If anyone would like to sing with the combined choirs, a list of practice dates is set out below:-

Monday, 10th January, at 7 p.m. at Kibworth Church
Friday, 14th January at 7.15 p.m. at Great Glen Church
Monday, 17th January at 7 p.m. at Kibworth Church
Friday, 21st January at 7.15 p.m. at Great Glen Church
Monday, 24th January at 7 p.m. at Kibworth Church
Friday, 28th January at 7.15 p.m. at Great Glen Church
Sunday, 30th January at 4 p.m. at Kibworth Church before the service

It is appreciated that you may not be able to attend all practices but if you can attend some, you would be very welcome.

Nativity Film: At the next housegroup meeting at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy, on Tuesday 18th January at 7.30pm they are going to watch all 4 episodes of the new BBC production of the Nativity which was so thought provoking and well done. If you haven’t seen it or have missed some episodes do go and join them as the Bloors have plenty of space – they can show it on TV’s in 3 rooms at once if lots of people turn up, such are the wonders of modern technology!

Films at Great Glen Village Hall – The next film show takes place on Saturday, 15th January, at 7.30 p.m. The film is entitled “Five hundred days of summer”. There are no well-known stars in this film but it is a very enjoyable and ‘nice’ film. Tickets cost £4. and are available from Margaret Wood (259 2100) or Great Glen Post Office.

All Sorts Christmas Party
We’re doing another Christmas party for any families who’ve been to Sparklers or All Sorts services whether at school or at church, and for any other families who’ve been to other church services. The party is at St. Cuthbert’s Church on Sunday 16th January at 4.30pm and it’ll be games for all ages (split into two groups) followed by a bring and share tea – I expect it will end around 5.30 pm.
Bring some food with you – we’ll provide plates, cutlery, cups and drink! Come and join us for some fun - we look forward to seeing you!
